Roofing Estimator

ITS (Construction Professionals) are working with an established roofing contractor based in Havant to recruit an experienced Roofing Estimator as the business continues to grow.

With over 45 years of industry experience, our client has built a strong reputation within the roofing sector and continues to develop its portfolio of commercial projects across the South Coast.

This is an opportunity for an estimator who wants more than simply pricing tenders. You’ll have direct access to company directors, ownership of the estimating process and the opportunity to influence commercial decisions that have a real impact on the business.

The Opportunity You’ll be responsible for pricing a varied range of roofing projects, covering commercial flat roofing, pitched and tiled roofing, across both refurbishment and new-build works.

Working closely with the senior team, you’ll take projects from initial enquiry through to tender submission, helping identify opportunities, manage risk and secure profitable work.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing tender enquiries, drawings and specifications to establish project requirements.
• Preparing detailed estimates, material take-offs and labour costings.
• Pricing commercial roofing projects, including flat roofing membranes, liquid-applied systems, felt and pitched tiled roofs.
• Obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Carrying out site surveys and meeting clients to assess project requirements.
• Working directly with company directors to review tender strategy, assess risk and protect margins.
• Supporting client negotiations, tender follow-ups and the conversion of opportunities into secured contracts.
• Developing strong relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors to support repeat business and future growth.

What We’re Looking For Our client is looking for someone who combines technical roofing knowledge with commercial awareness and the confidence to take responsibility for their work.

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous estimating experience within commercial roofing or specialist construction.
• A good understanding of flat roofing systems, including felt, liquid-applied and single-ply membranes.
• Knowledge of pitched roofing and tiled systems.
• The ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Strong numerical skills, attention to detail and a commercially focused approach.
• Confidence negotiating with suppliers and communicating with clients.
• The ability to manage competing deadlines and work independently.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
• A full UK driving licence and flexibility to attend regional site visits.

Experience in metal roofing, cladding or wider building envelope systems would be advantageous.
