About Thirteen

Thirteen is a 22-cover fine dining restaurant in Poole, listed in the Michelin Guide since opening for 3 years in a row. We are looking for an experienced Bartender to join our front of house team. This is a zero-hour position.

The concept is contemporary British cuisine providing tasting menus for lunch and dinner. This reservation-only restaurant also provides a wine pairing option and a selection of cocktails.

As Bartender you will work directly with the Sommelier, Head Chef and Maître D’ to create an enjoyable, outstanding dining experience.

Responsibilities will include

• Mix, garnish, and serve a variety of beverages accurately and efficiently, ensuring consistency and quality
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area in compliance with food safety standards
• Ensure the restaurant is prepared and set up for service
• Menu checking with Head Chef
• Attend pre-service team briefing with Head Chef
• Polishing cutlery & glassware
• Restock bar supplies as needed, including alcohol, mixers, garnishes, and glassware to ensure smooth service flow
• Basic cleaning duties in the restaurant
• Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner
• Liaise with the restaurant team to maintain seamless service from start to finish
• Help the bar team run drinks

Essential experience and qualities

• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Courteous and well presented for a high-end restaurant
• At least 1 year front of house experience, either in a bar or restaurant
• Bar and cocktail knowledge
• Barista duties
• Genuine interest in fine dining, willingness to learn

Desired experience and skills

• Personal license holder is an advantage but not essential
• WSET training and wine knowledge is an advantage but not essential
• Willingness to learn about food preparation and culinary techniques is a plus

• The successful candidate will be given hours on a zero-hour contract, which is determined by the customer booking levels. Typically, this would cover a selection of Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday lunchtimes and/or evening service. We open for Sunday lunch approximately twice a month
• We are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays
• Meals provided subject to work schedule

• Thirteen is located between Poole and Bournemouth on Ashley Road, Parkstone. The restaurant is on the major M1/M2 bus route and there is unrestricted on-street parking nearby

Pay & Tips

• This is a flexible position on a zero-hour contract
• Gratuities are shared with all employees based on the number of hours worked, and is included in the monthly payroll
• We are looking to employ someone who is interested in potentially becoming a full-time employee as our business grows and develops

Pay: From £12.71 per hour
