Full job description

Are you a GP interested in moving to Australia?

Motivated to make a lifestyle change and swap the cold, wet UK weather for a warm Aussie beach climate?

We are currently working with a large network of GP health centres across Australia's East and West Coast that are actively seeking UK-trained Specialist GPs to join their team under the expedited specialist pathway.
Given the current doctor shortage in Australia, if you are considering a major lifestyle change in 2026, this is the perfect time to make the move.

About Us:
DNA Healthcare is an Australian recruitment agency that connects healthcare professionals with roles in General Practice and other medical facilities across the country. Manly Uk GP's worry about the complexity of moving we mange a lot of this process with assistance across AHPRA registration, contract negotiation, Visa applications and relocation assistance.

If you are a doctor open to a range of temporary and permanent positions, including acute care, aged care, or primary healthcare this may be for you!

What We Offer:
  • Assistance with relocation to Australia
  • Visa applications
  • Guidance on the Specialist GP Pathway
  • Negotiation of GP job offers and contracts
  • Temporary accommodation in Australia + flights
  • Education on the Australian medical market and government systems
  • Provider number applications and Medicare process support
  • Assistance with mandatory compliance documentation
GP Billing / Renumeration Model in Australia:
GP billing in Australia is primarily through bulk billing, where the doctor bills Medicare directly and the patient pays nothing out-of-pocket, or private billing, where the patient pays a fee and receives a partial rebate from Medicare. Many practices use a mixed-billing model, combining these options depending on the patient and service. GPs have the flexibility to choose how to bill but must be transparent about costs.
On average most GPs take home between $2000 - $2500 per day based off a 65-70% margin split with a guaranteed hourly rate for the first 3-6 month while you are settling into the practice.

Patient numbers:
A general practitioner in Australia sees between 4 to 5 patients per hour, though this can vary based on factors like practice size, location, and administrative demands. For example, larger clinics may see more patients, while suburban GPs might see fewer due to the nature of their practice.

Eligibility:
You may be eligible if you hold the following:
  • Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP)
  • Membership of the Irish College of General Practitioners (MICGP)
  • Certificate of Satisfactory Completion of Specialist Training (CSCST) or Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT)
  • MRCGP awarded from August 2007 onward
  • CCT awarded by the GMC or the Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board
  • Confirmation of Specialist or GP training from the GMC
