We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the primary care team at HMP Pentonville. HMP Pentonville is a Category B prison in London, with capacity of 1100 males.

HMP Pentonville are recruiting for a Healthcare Assistant to support the wider healthcare team. You will be required to undertake observations, take bloods and care for patients.

This position is full time time working 37.5 hours per week.

4 x shifts per week 0730 - 1730
Mix of weekdays and weekends
Salary
Up to £32,134 - Depending on experience.

What you'll be doing

As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

  • Deliver exceptional care to patients, both in the healthcare department and on the wings
  • Facilitate clinics, including bloods, observations (obs), ECGs, NHS Health checks etc
  • Be involved in the implementation of clinical care packages
  • Support the nursing team with all aspects of care
  • Act as a second checker in pharmacy as required
  • Support receptions (new patients entering the prison) and assist with triaging new patients

Our new Healthcare Assistant will:
  • Ideally hold an NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or Care Certificate
  • Have experience within phlebotomy - this is highly desirable!
  • Have experience in a clinical care setting previously - ideally from a hospital or prison setting
  • Have clinical experience - venepuncture, ECGs etc
  • Have a non-judgemental and compassionate approach
