Full job description

Overview
We’re looking for an experienced Search Manager to join the Pixelbuilders team.

Search is changing. AI platforms and generative search experiences are reshaping how people discover, evaluate and choose organisations online. In this role, you'll help define how our clients are discovered through both traditional search and emerging AI-driven search experiences. You’ll shape how Pixelbuilders approaches search across content, user experience and development and ensure search at Pixelbuilders is never an afterthought.

Responsibilities

You’ll work closely with our Head of Strategy & Performance as well as in collaboration with our in-house design and development teams, to ensure search is embedded into everything we deliver. You’ll have opportunities to influence design decisions, lead content decisions and help shape website architecture.

You’ll take ownership of search performance across a range of client accounts - balancing strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.

Day-to-day, that means:

  • Leading and implementing technical SEO, content optimisation and AI search recommendations
  • Conducting audits, search research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities and inform strategy.
  • Identifying how audiences search, evaluate and make decisions online, then translating those insights into content and optimisation opportunities.
  • Sharing search insights and best practice across the wider team, helping ensure search thinking influences strategy, content, design and development decisions.
  • Monitoring performance and continuously identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Supporting website builds with SEO input from discovery through to launch
  • Understanding client objectives and ensuring search activity contributes to meaningful outcomes, whether that's leads, enquiries, sales or visibility amongst key audiences.

You’ll also have client-facing responsibility - explaining performance, building trust, and helping clients understand where value is being driven.

Your skills and qualifications

We’re after someone with solid experience in SEO and search performance, ideally within an agency or digital environment.

You’ll likely have:

  • Ability to uncover opportunities through analytics and user behaviour data, translating insight into clear actions and measurable improvements
  • Experience using analytics, search and optimisation platforms such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Ahrefs, SEMrush or similar
  • Familiarity with AI search, generative search optimisation (GEO) and emerging search technologies
  • Experience measuring search performance beyond rankings
  • Understanding of schema and structured data
  • Familiarity with SEO considerations for modern CMS platforms
  • A good understanding of site structure, crawlability, indexing and Core Web Vitals
  • The ability to interpret data and turn it into meaningful actions
  • Understanding of conversion tracking, tagging and attribution (e.g. GA4, GTM)
  • Confidence working alongside developers on technical implementation
  • Strong communication skills - able to explain SEO without hiding behind jargon
  • Experience managing multiple projects or clients

Nice to have, but not essential:

  • Experience in Paid Search (Google Ads)
  • Experience with CMS platforms (e.g. Umbraco, Kentico or equivalent)

You'll thrive here if:

  • Enjoy solving problems and asking questions
  • Like working closely with designers, developers and strategists
  • Balance attention to detail with commercial thinking
  • Take ownership and enjoy seeing ideas through
  • Feel comfortable explaining complex topics in simple terms
  • Stay curious about how search continues to evolve
  • Enjoy sharing ideas and helping others do their best work

What we're offering you

By starting a career at Pixel you'll have the opportunity to work alongside some of the most curious minds in digital. From project management to digital marketing and everything in between, if you’re asking questions like “what if” and “what next” then you’ll be in good company here.
