About the opportunity

This is an opportunity to register your interest in future Data Engineer roles within our growing data and analytics function. Roles of this type support the design, build and maintenance of robust data infrastructure and pipelines that enable organisations to harness data as a strategic asset. You could be contributing to initiatives that connect data systems, improve data quality and drive informed decision-making across the business.

What you would do

Typical responsibilities could include:

  • Designing and building scalable data pipelines and infrastructure to support analytics and reporting
  • Collaborating with data analysts, business stakeholders and engineering teams to gather and align data requirements
  • Implementing data quality checks and monitoring to ensure data accuracy and reliability
  • Developing and maintaining ETL processes and data workflows
  • Working with cloud platforms and data technologies to optimise data storage, access and performance
  • Contributing to the documentation and standardisation of data architecture and best practices
  • Supporting the integration of data systems and APIs to enable seamless data flow
  • Troubleshooting data pipeline issues and improving system reliability

What you could bring

Most roles of this type require the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining data pipelines and ETL processes
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with data quality analysis and requirements gathering
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or Google Cloud
  • Familiarity with containerisation and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with CI/CD practices and version control
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nice-to-have experience could include:

  • Google Cloud Data Engineer certification or equivalent
  • Experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform
  • Programming experience in Python, Java or similar languages
  • Knowledge of BI tools such as Power BI
  • Experience with SAP environments or enterprise data systems
