Shop Supervisor

Role Profile

Background

Wandsworth Oasis raises funds for HIV support, prevention and awareness raising projects

across South West London. Unlike most other charity shops, where the income generated

in the retail shops is unrestricted funding for the parent charity, Wandsworth Oasis operates

more like a Trust or Foundation. Money raised in the shops, from Challenges and our quirky

events programme – after operational costs and reserves – is distributed via a grants

scheme to other charities who work directly with vulnerable people affected by HIV and or

who undertake HIV prevention and awareness raising work.

The purpose of this post

To help and support the Shop Manager with the day-day management of the shop, ensuring that sales and profit targets are achieved.

Key tasks

1. Deliver all COVID-19 19 safety compliance measures in shops. Ensuring all government guidelines are adhered to.

2. Supporting the manager to make sure all shop tasks are delivered efficiently.

3. Working in line with managers guidelines make sure stock is processed to the highest standard.

4. Select and price stock at appropriate levels and in line with the standard operating model.

5. Ensure that the shop is adequately stocked with donated goods and weeding process are followed in line with Shops procedures.

6. maximise shop sales through effective presentation of stock.

7. Work with the manager to recruit and train a team of volunteers.

8. Support the manager to ensure volunteers are suitably motivated and supported in line with our guidelines.

9. In the absence of the manager, make sure shop is running in line with managers guidelines, and all shifts are suitably covered.

10. Ensure agreed sales targets and expenditure for the shop is achieved.

11. Deliver excellent customer service at all times.

12. Maintain housekeeping and the highest standards of cleanliness in the shop at all times.

13. Make sure that the premises conform to required health and safety regulations.

14. Manage the Gift Aid processes as set out in the guidelines to maximise the amount raised and ensure we are fully compliant with all HMRC guidelines.

15. Ensure financial procedures are followed including the operation of the cash register, cashing up and reconciling the day’s takings at the end of each day in accordance with the company’s cash handling procedures.

16. Ensure the prompt completion of weekly returns and dispatch of documents to the senior retail team.

17. Hold shop keys and ensure premises are secure when unattended.

18. Provide a safe environment for customers, staff and volunteers.

19. To report any maintenance matters promptly to the shop manager or senior retail team.

20. Support all fundraising activity for Wandsworth Oasis.

Generic

How will the post holder know if they are performing?

A number of performance targets will be planned and agreed each year with the line manager and these will be monitored at regular meetings. Regular feedback will be provided by the line manager and opportunity provided to discuss any problems, personal and team matters and personal development issues.

Generic requirements

The post holder will be expected to comply with Wandsworth Oasis policies and procedures at all times. These include, but are not limited to equal opportunities, confidentiality, data protection and health and safety.

In order to do their job, the post holder will be trained and coached in the procedures and policies of Wandsworth Oasis. They will be expected to familiarise themselves with Wandsworth Oasis procedures and policies and to seek advice and guidance from the line manager if required.

The key tasks listed above are only an indication of the main tasks required to be performed. It is not an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities and may be subject to amendment to take account of changing circumstances. Any changes will be made following discussion with the post holder. The post holder will remain co-operative and flexible in line with the needs of the post and Wandsworth Oasis.
