North Devon Council is looking for a Housing Triage Officer to become part of our busy Housing Options & Refugee Resettlement Team.

You will need to have excellent interpersonal skills, an ability to work flexibly to changing demands and operate in a coordinated manner with other team members and clients.

If you think you have the right skills, capability and attitude to be part of our Housing & Refugee Resettlement team we would like to hear from you.

This post will:

  • Be the first point of contact for general housing enquiries
  • Ensure all relevant documentation is produced by the customer, compliance checks carried out and scanned to system
  • Gather relevant background information and provide appropriate advice, in accordance with the Homeless Reduction Act 2017
  • Issue ‘Advice only’ decisions & relevant documentation then update the housing system
  • Support the wider housing team in the delivery of homeless prevention and be open to personal development overtime cover Housing Officer functions
  • Signpost clients to relevant statutory and voluntary agencies, in relation to benefits, debt advice, food bank
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Prepared to work out of different office locations and complete off home visits, subject to risks assessments being carried out

Ideally you need to:

  • Be proficient in ICT applications
  • Be a confident communicator, both written and verbal working with housing clients
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Have a background in Housing
