Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Roofer/Labourer to join our roofing team. This role involves working on various roofing projects, assisting with general labour tasks, and supporting skilled tradespeople. The ideal candidate will be physically fit, eager to learn, and committed to maintaining high safety standards on site. This position offers valuable experience in the construction industry and opportunities for skill development in roofing, carpentry, and other trades.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with the installation, repair, and maintenance of roofing systems using hand tools and power tools
- Preparing work sites by clearing debris and setting up scaffolding or safety barriers
- Handling heavy lifting tasks to move materials such as shingles, tiles, or metal sheets safely and efficiently
- Supporting carpenters, masons, plumbers, and fabricators as needed during construction projects
- Reading and interpreting schematics and technical drawings to ensure accurate installation
- Operating welding equipment when required for specialised roofing or fabrication tasks
- Assisting with fabrication and cutting of materials using appropriate tools
- Ensuring all work complies with health and safety regulations at all times
- Maintaining a clean and organised work environment to promote safety and efficiency
Skills
- Experience or familiarity with schematics and technical drawings
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment
- Knowledge of construction practices including roofing, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, and fabrication processes
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely over extended periods
- Strong understanding of health and safety procedures on construction sites
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Physical fitness to handle demanding labour tasks in various weather conditions
