Learning Support Assistant

Location: Ipswich
Pay: £85 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday, full-time school hours 8:30-3:30
Contract: Full-time

We’re looking for a caring, confident Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist school in Ipswich. You’ll work alongside teachers to help pupils with special educational needs, including social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, feel supported, take part in lessons and make progress.

Every pupil is different. One moment you might be helping a child settle into an activity; the next, you could be offering one-to-one support, encouraging positive behaviour or celebrating a breakthrough that means the world to them. It’s a hands-on role for someone who can build trust, stay calm when things are challenging and recognise the difference their support makes.

What you’ll do

  • Support pupils one-to-one and in small groups throughout the school day.
  • Help pupils engage with learning and develop their confidence and independence.
  • Provide patient, consistent support with emotional wellbeing and behaviour.
  • Work closely with teachers to adapt support to each pupil’s needs.
  • Help create a safe, welcoming environment where pupils can thrive.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant or in a similar role supporting young people.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEN; SEMH experience is particularly welcome.
  • A calm, compassionate approach and the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Reliability, flexibility and a genuine commitment to helping pupils succeed.

You’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day, with ongoing support throughout your placement.

Apply today with your up-to-date CV if you’re ready for a rewarding full-time role in Ipswich.
