Job Description

Children are at the heart of everything we do at Tanners Brook - we are so proud of every single child who learns and develops with us.

We are privileged to be able to shape the lives of our children and to equip them with the values we hold dear: being thoughtful, having self-belief, persevering, and challenging ourselves to succeed. These values underpin everything we do. Our vision of every child striving for their personal best means that we are proud to equip our children and staff with the skills, qualities and values they need to make this happen and to develop a lifelong love of learning.

We are looking to appoint a dedicated and patient Teaching Assistant to join our hard-working team to support children (including those with high needs/SEND), ensuring they are supported to be ambitious learners. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the class teacher and SENDCO, using learning and support strategies appropriate to the needs of the children. Your role will involve promoting the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils and encouraging pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher. The ability to establish high expectations is vital, as is the ability to provide objective and accurate feedback to the class teacher and SENDCO. The role will also include being part of our lunchtime Play Team, supporting outdoor play and learning (OPAL).

As a Teaching Assistant you will:

  • Work with the SENDCO and class teachers to raise the learning and attainment of students across The Early Years, Key Stages 1 and 2
  • Promote student independence, self-esteem and social inclusion
  • Give support to children, individually or in groups, so they can access the curriculum, take part in learning and experience a sense of achievement

This post is ideal for someone who:

  • is passionate about working with children
  • has a willingness to work with children across the primary age range
  • has strong literacy and numeracy skills
  • has excellent interpersonal and organisational skils
  • has the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • has a desire to raise standards of attainment and aspiration
