Salary: Grade 3
Location: The Federation of Fairfield and Colneis
Contract type: Permanent, 38 weeks per year (term time only)
Hours: 22.5 hours per week

This role is based at Colneis Junior School.

We would like to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Administrative Assistant to work in our wonderful school.

You will be the first point of contact for parents and visitors while also being responsible for a diverse range of administrative duties, contributing to the effective and smooth running of the school.

Therefore, we would welcome applications from candidates who have experience of working in an administrative role within an educational environment.

You will report directly to the School Operations Manager and be responsible for providing support in carrying out a range of administrative duties.

This is an opportunity to contribute to a Trust that is committed to continuously improving practice and outcomes.

Compass Eko Trust is a family of 28 schools working as one system to improve outcomes for every child. We are united by a clear commitment: every child achieving, without exception.

Through a knowledge-rich curriculum, strong professional collaboration, and a shared commitment to excellence, we support our schools to deliver high-quality education in their communities.

Our schools sit at the heart of everything we do. The Trust exists to bring clarity, consistency, and support so leaders can focus on what matters most: teaching and learning.

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Administrative Assistant to join our team at Colneis Junior School with the following qualities:

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of people while following instructions accurately.

  • Hold recognised GCSE qualifications (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.

  • Demonstrate excellent organisational skills, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to take on new challenges.

  • Have recent administrative or office experience, ideally within a primary school or nursery setting.

  • Show a genuine commitment to becoming a valued member of a dedicated school team.

  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Remain flexible, positive, and approachable, with a good sense of humour and the ability to thrive in a busy school environment.

  • Be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with strong general IT and computer literacy skills.

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, staff, and other members of the school community.

  • Prioritise workloads effectively and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines.

  • Adapt to the changing demands and responsibilities of the role.

  • Use initiative confidently and work effectively both independently and with minimal supervision.

As part of our Trust, you will be part of a professional community where:

  • Schools work together, sharing expertise and improving practice.

  • Staff benefit from strong professional networks and collaboration across schools.

  • Development is supported through coaching, CPD, and leadership pathways.

  • You are not working in isolation - you are part of a wider system.

Our Offer
  • Competitive pay and conditions aligned to national frameworks.

  • Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) or Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS).

  • Access to a structured programme of professional development.

  • Opportunities to work across schools and develop your career.

  • Employee Assistance Programme with 24/7 confidential support.

  • Access to staff benefits and discount schemes.

  • Family-friendly policies and flexible working options where possible.

Visits are welcomed. Please contact rebecca.cook.fc@ekotrust.org.uk to arrange this or for any further information.

Compass Eko Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All appointments are subject to appropriate pre-employment checks, including an enhanced DBS check.

Closing date for applications: 12th July 2026
