Overview

The Lost Gardens of Heligan is one of the most iconic gardens in the UK, renowned for its horticultural heritage, wildlife, and community engagement. We aim to engage visitors of all ages with nature through immersive educational experiences, conservation projects, and interactive workshops.

Role Overview:
We are seeking flexible, enthusiastic, and experienced lead facilitators and assistant facilitators to support the delivery of school workshops and Heligan Rangers sessions. These zero-hours positions are ideal for learning professionals passionate about environmental education, outdoor learning, and engaging with children and young people. You will play a key role in creating memorable, educational, and fun experiences for our visitors while promoting the values of Heligan Gardens.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning, preparing, and delivering school workshops and Heligan Rangers activities.
  • Lead engaging outdoor and classroom-based educational sessions for children of various ages.
  • Support the supervision and safety of children and participants during sessions.
  • Collaborate with the Education & Ranger team to ensure activities align with learning objectives and Heligan’s educational ethos.
  • Assist with the set-up and pack-down of workshop materials and resources.
  • Provide visitors with information about Heligan Gardens and its educational programs when needed.
  • Promote environmental awareness, horticulture, and conservation in all interactions with participants.

Person Specification:

  • Passion for education, wildlife, conservation, or horticulture.
  • Experience working with children in educational or informal learning settings.
  • Confident in leading groups and delivering engaging activities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible, reliable, and able to adapt to varying work schedules.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Desirable:

  • First aid qualification (or willingness to undertake training).
  • Knowledge of local flora, fauna, and environmental conservation principles.
  • Experience working with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Experience in museum, garden, or heritage site education.

Please note, these roles will be subject to clear Enhanced DBS check and all successful applicants will need to undertake safeguarding training.

Pay: £13.86-£15.00 per hour
