Full job description
The Robertson Trust is looking for a Programmes and Practice Officer to join our Programmes and Practice team. Based primarily at Robertson House, Glasgow, with hybrid working available, this role supports the Trust to secure big change that lasts in preventing and reducing poverty and trauma in Scotland.

As a member of the team, you will support the development and delivery of our thematic work, helping to shape influencing activity, proactive programme awards and strategic relationships that contribute to long-term change across Scotland.
The Role
The Programmes and Practice Officer will support the Programmes and Practice Manager and wider organisation to develop and deliver our thematic priorities and strategic aims.
You will contribute to influencing and social change activity, support the development and management of proactive Programme Awards, build strong relationships with grantholders and stakeholders, and help strengthen the Trust's expertise, networks and connections across our thematic areas.
You will gather and apply insight to strengthen programme development and learning, contribute to meaningful participation by people with lived experience, and work collaboratively across the organisation to ensure our work remains informed, connected and effective.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and delivery of influencing activity and social change initiatives aligned to the Trust's strategic aims
- Contribute to the development of proactive Programme Awards and thematic plans
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with grantholders, stakeholders, policy makers and decision makers
- Support the management of Programme Awards and funding relationships in line with governance arrangements and good practice
- Gather and apply insight to inform programme development and organisational learning
- Contribute to participation and engagement with people with lived experience
- Build knowledge and expertise across the Trust's thematic priorities and policy interests
- Represent the Trust externally as required and contribute to cross-cutting organisational priorities

About You
We are looking for someone with knowledge of poverty and trauma and an understanding of the third sector and independent funding landscape in Scotland and across the UK.
You will bring:
- Relevant experience of working in a field related to poverty and/or trauma
- Strong understanding of the third sector in Scotland and independent funders in Scotland and across the UK
- Experience of developing and delivering programmes of work to achieve demonstrable impact and/or influence
- An understanding of what makes for a positive funding relationship, either from a funder or funded organisation perspective
- Experience of building relationships and networks to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
- Proven ability to think creatively and imaginatively combined with strong attention to detail
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work confidently using your own initiative
- Insight into inequality, poverty or trauma through lived, paid or voluntary experience
- High emotional intelligence and the ability to relate to people from different backgrounds
- An interest in politics and policy in Scotland and the potential to develop strong political judgement
- You will be adaptable, collaborative and aligned to the Trust's values.

Benefits
- Salary £42,337– £50,176 FTE
- 35 days holiday per calendar year, inclusive of public holidays
- Pension – 10% employer contribution or 14% if employee contribution is 7%
- Additional employee benefits package (currently under review)
- This role is advertised as full-time, but we are open to applicants who wish to work part-time.
