Maternity Cover for up to one year.
Job Purpose: The Bradford Nightstop Development Worker is responsible for the areas of young people’s outcomes and involvement; and coordinating the homelessness prevention education work and new day time activities.
No of hours each week: 30hrs (until 31/3/2027 then 27hrs subject to funding).
Areas of Responsibility and Key Tasks
1. Developing Young People
a) Facilitating the involvement of young people in Bradford Nightstop’s development. This includes organising regular consultation, information and review events across the areas in which we work.
b) Encouraging young people to realise positive outcomes through the work of Nightstop by encouraging them to access opportunities and support. This will, at times, also include being an advocate and consulting with agencies.
c) Empowering young people to take up activity and volunteering.
2. Developing New Day Time Activities.
a) Supporting the development of new day time activities which will include coworking and signposting.
b) Promoting and encouraging participation by a range of young people in line with our commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
c) Completing and reviewing risk assessments, including considering any safeguarding issues, for the Manager to review.
d) Supporting the recruitment, training and support of volunteers involved in new day time activities.
e) Evaluating activities, setting up monitoring and ensuring ongoing learning and development.
3. Delivering Homelessness Prevention Education
a) Identifying, researching, mapping, contacting and developing effective working relationships with schools, pupil referral units, community/youth groups.
b) Developing and delivering creative programmes of homelessness prevention education & training to help young people at the earliest opportunity.
c) Creating content and resources, including online material/digital resources, for homelessness prevention training, and involving young people and education volunteers in the process.
d) Involvement in the recruitment, training and support of a small team of volunteers to deliver homelessness prevention education to a variety of audiences.
4. Supporting Operations and Strategic Development
a) Supporting and assisting colleagues, and volunteers in the general running of the scheme which includes volunteer recruitment, training and retention.
b) Working within and contributing to the development of our business/development plans, policies and procedures.
c) Acting as an ambassador for and promoting the benefits and objectives of Bradford Nightstop.
d) Attending and contributing to Depaul UK network regional and national forums, sharing knowledge and learning from other schemes.
5. Marketing, Communication and Social Media
a) Collaborating with the staff team and our marketing volunteers to develop our marketing strategy and merchandise.
b) Contributing to the development of the website and other social media platforms.
c) Working with colleagues and volunteers to raise awareness about Bradford Nightstop and homelessness issues.
6. Financial Sustainability
a) Supporting funding applications, fundraising, relationships with supporters and report writing.
b) Encouraging in kind contributions and the wise use of resources.
7. Organisation and Personal Accountability
a) Preparing reports for and attend, as required, the Annual General Meeting and meetings of the Trust Board and its sub-groups.
b) Participating in team meetings, supervision and continuous professional development/training including mandatory annual training.
c) Input into and accessing databases and information systems.
d) Undertake administration in electronic format and, when necessary, in hard copy.
8. Other Duties. Undertaking such other duties as may be compatible with the role and responsibilities of the post.
