Company: WS Training part of Brightpeak Group
Location: Ipswich
Employment Type: 32.5 hours per week (Mon-Fri) | Applications from candidates seeking fewer hours will also be considered | Term Time Only
Salary: FTE £24,784.50 (£18,588.38 per annum pro rata based on working 32.5 hours per week and term-time)
Expected start date: September 2026
About Us:
We work with the most incredible group of 16–24 year olds who need a range of support both within centre and out on placements. Every day is different, rewarding, and full of opportunities to make a genuine difference in a young person’s life.
At WS Training, our Supported Learning Centre in Ipswich provides a warm, inclusive and supportive environment where learners with a range of additional needs can thrive, build confidence and achieve incredible progress. Due to continued growth within our Study Programme provision, we are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join our team.
Role Overview:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting and inspiring an incredible group of 16–24 year olds as they build confidence, develop independence and work towards their future goals. Working closely alongside tutors and the wider student support team, you will help create a positive, engaging and supportive environment where learners can thrive both academically and personally. Every day brings new opportunities to make a genuine difference, celebrate achievements and be part of a team that is passionate about empowering young people to reach their full potential.
No two days are the same. One day you may be supporting within the classroom, and the next you could be helping learners out on placement, supporting independence within the community, or taking part in enrichment activities such as forestry, hospitality or sports.
Experience within SEN is beneficial, but full training and ongoing support will be provided. We are looking for individuals who are calm, caring, adaptable and passionate about supporting others to achieve their full potential.
We have students with special educational needs who work well with a variety of staff members. As we continue to expand our team, we are seeking someone comfortable working with all learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support learners both in and out of the classroom
- Assist learners in working towards qualifications and life skills goals
- Promote independence and celebrate learner achievements
- Support learners whilst attending work placements and community activities
- Build positive, professional relationships with learners
- Maintain dignity and respect for all individuals at all times
- Work collaboratively with tutors, LSAs and the wider student support team
- Support learners with developing confidence, communication and everyday life skills
What are we looking for:
- A calm, empathetic and patient approach
- Passion for supporting individuals with learning disabilities and additional needs
- Ability to build positive rapport with students
- Flexible and enthusiastic attitude
- Experience within personal care is advantageous but not essential
Essential requirement:
- Full driving licence and access to your own vehicle with business cover insurance is essential for this role
Benefits:
- Opportunity to work for a Grade 2 Ofsted Provider
- Long-term career opportunities and progression
- In-house training and continued professional development
- Term-time working with school holiday breaks
- Increased annual leave entitlements
- Free on-site parking
Application:
If you are enthusiastic about making a positive impact in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities and possess the qualities we're looking for, we encourage you to apply.
Join WS Training and be part of a supportive team committed to empowering individuals with diverse needs to reach their full potential. We look forward to hearing from you!
