Pre-School Assistant

Leighfield Primary School
Salary: Grade 5 Pay Point 7-8 (£25,191 - £25,590 per annum)
Contract Type: Permanent

Two permanent part-time roles available:

• Morning Shift: 7:30am to 12:30pm (25 hours per week)
• Afternoon Shift: 12:30pm to 6:00pm (27.5 hours per week)

We are ideally seeking candidates who can work 52 weeks per year. However, we are happy to consider applicants looking for a contract of 39 weeks or more per year, offering flexibility to suit individual circumstances.

About the Role

Leighfield Primary School are seeking to recruit a highly organised, empathetic and enthusiastic Pre-School Assistant to work within our Little Roots Pre-School setting, supporting the Pre-School Team.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the well-being, safety and security of the children including the locking of doors, windows and gates in accordance with safeguarding procedures.
• Maintain records as directed.
• Assist in the planning and implementing a multi-cultural play curriculum to stimulate children’s interest in learning.
• Liaise with parents/carers and other staff to ensure children are welcomed and supported.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications:

• Good level of literacy and numeracy.
• NVQ 3 qualification or equivalent.

Experience:

• Experience of working with children under five in informal or formal settings

Skills & Knowledge:

• Knowledge of good practice in under-fives care and education.
• Knowledge of requirements of the Children Act.
• Knowledge of Ofsted requirements
• An understanding of Health & Safety.
• A knowledge of good security practices.
