Full job description

Production Operator

Location: Burnroot Sawmill, Aboyne

Contract: Full time, permanent.

About the role:

We are looking for a Production Operator to join our busy Sawmill. You will be part of a team responsible for creating a range of timber products as well as moving, sorting and packing timber. Whilst a lot of the tasks are automated, there will be some degree of manual handling, lifting, bending and twisting. No previous experience is required as full training will be given.

Hours of work:

47.5 hrs per week, 07:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday, with 30 minute unpaid lunch

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Ensuring good housekeeping of workstations
  • Operating sawmilling machinery
  • Adhering to all Health, Safety and Quality standards and instructions
  • Operation of Mobile Plant Vehicles
  • Working towards set production targets
  • Manual handling of timber

Skills and Experience:

  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team to achieve production goals and meet required standards.
  • Can follow written work instructions
  • Must undertake all necessary training
  • Have a flexible approach to work, understanding that you may undertake additional or other duties necessary to meet the needs of the company
  • Having previous experience of working in a manufacturing/construction environment would be advantageous
