Kitchen assistant (café kitchen)

Term: Minimum 24 hours a week according to a rota (more hours possibly available in peak periods).

We are ideally seeking a permanent team member. However, we would also welcome applications from experienced seasonal candidates who can make an immediate contribution during our busy period.

Start date: Immediate

Salary: From £12.71 per hour

About us…

Sacrewell is a well-established farm attraction located to the west of Peterborough, welcoming around 85,000 visitors each year. We are part of The William Scott Abbott Trust, an agricultural education charity with over 60 years of history.

We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join the team at The Farmhouse Table, our on-site café, where we provide a range of freshly prepared food in a welcoming countryside setting.

About you…

You will have a genuine interest in food and enjoy preparing simple, good-quality dishes in a busy kitchen environment. You’ll be comfortable working as part of a team, take pride in maintaining high standards, and bring a positive, reliable approach to your work.

This is an important role within our friendly and hardworking team, where you’ll contribute to delivering a great experience for our visitors through well-prepared food, a clean and organised kitchen, and a consistent, professional approach.

The Purpose of the Role…

To deliver great quality food for visitors and locals who visit the café, providing the best service to ensure we create an experience to remember.

What You'll Be Doing:

· Preparation of hot and cold food at pace to set specifications and consistent quality

· Ensuring the kitchen is well-stocked and replenished as required

· Providing excellent service to FOH so they can deliver the best experience to our customers

· Keeping the kitchen clean and tidy

· Washing up

· Working closely with other team members to ensure the café and kitchen run smoothly

· Working at pace to support other team members – flexibility is part of the role!

· You may occasionally be asked to support other areas of the Trust, and we value a positive, can-do attitude from all our team.

We’re after someone who is:

· Passionate about food

· Willing to learn new things

· Reliable and motivated – you take initiative and get things done

· Able to cope well in a busy kitchen environment

· Flexible and works well as part of a team – actively looks for opportunities to support other team members as and when needed

· A great communicator who enjoys engaging with people

· Genuinely enthusiastic and passionate about delivering great food and service

· Has exceptional standards and attention to detail

· Role model and ambassador for Sacrewell Farm

What You’ll Need:

Essential:

· A positive attitude and good cooking skills

· Awareness of Food Safety and allergen procedures

Desirable (but not essential – we can train the right person):

· Food Safety Level 2 trained or above

· Previous experience of working in a busy kitchen Environment

· Baking skills
