DESCRIPTION
Come build the future of entertainment with us. Are you interested in shaping the future of movies and television? Do you want to define the next generation of how and what Amazon customers are watching?
Prime Video is a premium streaming service that offers customers a vast collection of TV shows and movies - all with the ease of finding what they love to watch in one place. We offer customers thousands of popular movies and TV shows including Amazon Originals and exclusive licensed content to exciting live sports events. We also offer our members the opportunity to subscribe to add-on channels which they can cancel at anytime and to rent or buy new release movies and TV box sets on the Prime Video Store. Prime Video is a fast-paced, growth business - available in over 200 countries and territories worldwide. The team works in a dynamic environment where innovating on behalf of our customers is at the heart of everything we do. If this sounds exciting to you, please read on.
Our Playback Operations Systems Group is looking for a motivated, results-oriented, dedicated and operationally focused System Development Engineer to support the fast-evolving and expanding device automation systems, that support our live events and 24/7 linear operations. You will have an enormous opportunity to work within multiple systems analyzing and identifying the common issues, and driving the teams towards resolution to have a positive impact on customer experience. This job requires you to learn quickly and work on disparate and overlapping tasks.
Key job responsibilities
A day in the life
Your morning starts by reviewing operational dashboards and alerts, ensuring live services are healthy. When issues arise—latency spikes, availability drops—you collaborate with the team to diagnose and resolve them quickly.
Mid-morning shifts to development: enhancing automation scripts, improving device monitoring workflows, and testing changes in staging environments to reduce manual intervention during live events.
Afternoons bring cross-team collaboration—troubleshooting priority tickets with encoding and operations engineers, deploying fixes before high-profile events go live, and designing monitoring solutions that scale with Prime Video's growing live sports portfolio.
About the team
The Playback Ops Systems Group build and maintain reliable, high performance customer experience monitoring tooling and infrastructure. We take ownership of the end-to-end live monitoring experience - from a Living Room device, through our encoding and analysis platform, out through to our Live Ops AVOCs (Amazon Video Operation Centres). Our team makes a big impact because nothing is more important to us than delighting our customers, continually earning their trust, and thinking long term. If you crave a sense of ownership, this is the place to be.
