Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant Opportunities | Cardiff | Full-Time Roles Available

Pay: £465 - £500 per week

Looking for a career where your support can change a young person's future?

Educators First is currently partnering with three welcoming schools across Cardiff that are recruiting full-time Teaching Assistants for opportunities starting throughout the summer and into September.

Whether you're an experienced Teaching Assistant, a recent graduate, or someone looking to transfer valuable skills from another sector, we would love to hear from you.

These schools are focused less on qualifications and more on finding enthusiastic, reliable individuals who are committed to helping children succeed.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you'll become an important part of the school community, helping pupils access learning, build confidence and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.

You'll work closely with teachers and support staff, providing tailored support to pupils who benefit from additional guidance throughout the school day.

No two days are ever the same. One day you may be helping a pupil remain focused during lessons, while the next you could be supporting emotional regulation, communication skills or social development.

Key duties may include:

  • Providing one-to-one support for individual pupils
  • Assisting small groups during classroom activities
  • Encouraging positive engagement with learning
  • Supporting emotional wellbeing and confidence building
  • Helping pupils develop independence and life skills
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, parents and specialist staff
  • Promoting a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment

Types of Needs You May Support

The schools have pupils with a range of Additional Learning Needs and support requirements, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Speech, Language and Communication difficulties
  • Behavioural support requirements
  • Additional developmental and learning challenges

Previous school experience is beneficial but not essential. Full guidance and support will be provided for candidates with the right mindset and attitude.

Who Makes a Great Teaching Assistant?

We regularly see candidates from the following backgrounds thrive in these positions:

  • Psychology graduates
  • Education graduates
  • Sports coaches
  • Youth workers
  • Care and support workers
  • Criminology graduates
  • Drama and Performing Arts graduates
  • Individuals seeking experience before teacher training

The people who succeed most often are those who:

  • Communicate effectively with young people
  • Demonstrate patience and resilience
  • Build trust and rapport naturally
  • Stay positive when facing challenges
  • Show initiative and a willingness to learn
  • Are passionate about helping children reach their potential

Why Join Educators First?

Finding the right school is just as important as finding the right candidate.

Our team takes the time to understand your experience, strengths and long-term goals before introducing you to suitable opportunities.

Where available, we can arrange school visits or trial sessions so that you can experience the environment first-hand before making a decision.

You'll receive ongoing support throughout your journey, from your initial application through to your placement and beyond.

Our aim isn't simply to fill vacancies. We want to help talented individuals establish rewarding and successful careers within education.
