Job Title: Primary SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Gillingham

Pay Range: £95 per day

Contract Type: Full-Time (Mon – Friday)

Hours: 08:30 – 15:30

ANZUK Education is working with an SEN School set within the Gillingham area seeking to appoint a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to join their outstanding team.

Join a welcoming SEND school in Gillingham that is passionate about supporting children with profound, severe and complex needs, and committed to helping every child reach their full potential. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils’ learning through one-to-one and small group work, under the guidance of the class teacher. You will also be a valued and integral member of a supportive school team, working together to make a meaningful difference every day.

About the role:

  • Support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to access learning and achieve their individual outcomes
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support under the direction of the class teacher and SEN team
  • Support pupils during transitions, breaktimes, trips and specialist activities
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
  • Accurately record observations and feedback to support assessment and planning
  • Uphold safeguarding, confidentiality and health & safety procedures
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, families and external professionals
  • Desirable skills & experience:
  • Experience working within a SEND school or SEND mainstream provision (primary or secondary)
  • A passion for supporting children with SEND, including profound, severe and complex needs
  • SEND/TA qualification (desirable)
  • Flexibility and resilience in a highly rewarding but demanding environment
  • Strong communication skills, including use of non-verbal communication methods
  • Ability to support personal care, including feeding, toileting and moving & handling, with dignity and respect
  • Ability to work full-time school hours
  • While experience and qualifications are helpful, what matters most is your ability to build positive relationships and support pupils’ confidence and progress.
