Are you a qualified teacher looking for a rewarding role where no two days are the same?

Engage Education is recruiting a Cover Teacher to join a welcoming and well-established secondary school in Ashford, Surrey from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a versatile and confident teacher who enjoys delivering engaging lessons across a range of subjects while maintaining high standards of behaviour and learning.

The successful candidate will teach students across Key Stages 3 and 4, covering lessons during staff absence and ensuring continuity of learning.

The Role

As a Cover Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons across a variety of curriculum subjects.
  • Maintain a calm, purposeful, and positive learning environment.
  • Adapt your teaching approach to meet the needs of different classes and learners.
  • Manage classroom behaviour confidently in line with school policies.
  • Ensure students remain engaged and complete the work set.
  • Provide clear handover notes and feedback to teaching staff following lessons.
  • Uphold high standards of professionalism and safeguarding at all times.

We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching in a UK secondary school.
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Confidence teaching across a range of subjects.
  • Strong communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.
  • A flexible, resilient, and proactive approach.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
