Be there when families need support most.
Do you have a passion for working directly with children, young people and families? Do you believe in the power of early intervention, strong relationships and community support to change lives?
Devon's Best Start Family Hubs are transforming how families access help. As part of our ambitious Best Start in Life vision, we're bringing together services, communities and resources to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive and every family can access support when they need it. We're looking for enthusiastic and compassionate Family Hub Support Workers to join our growing team.
The Role
You'll work directly with babies, children, young people and families, delivering advice, guidance, targeted interventions and group programmes that improve outcomes and build resilience. With a particular focus on Best Start in Life support from pregnancy to age 5, you'll help families give their children the very best start, while also contributing to the wider Best Start Family Hubs offer for children and young people aged 0-19, and up to 25 for those with SEND.
Using a whole-family approach, you'll provide support in homes, local communities, Family Hubs and through our growing digital offer. Working alongside colleagues from health, education, children's services and the voluntary sector, you'll help families build confidence, strengthen support networks, access the right help at the right time, and improve their long-term wellbeing and life chances.
We're Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience working with children, young people and families.
- Is confident delivering individual and group support.
- Understands safeguarding and Early Help.
- Builds positive and trusting relationships.
- Is enthusiastic, organised and solutions-focused.
- Is passionate about helping families thrive
Why Join Us?
This is an opportunity to make a genuine difference to families every day while helping shape the future of Family Hubs across Devon. You'll join a passionate team committed to:
- Putting children and families at the heart of everything we do.
- Delivering innovative, community-based support.
- Listening to family voices and lived experience.
- Working together to achieve better outcomes.
- Building stronger families, stronger communities and brighter futures.
What We Offer
Alongside a rewarding career and the opportunity to make a real difference, we offer:
- Flexible and hybrid working opportunities.
- Generous annual leave entitlement.
- Local Government Pension Scheme.
- Extensive learning and development opportunities.
- Supportive management and professional supervision.
- The opportunity to help shape the future of Family Hubs in Devon.
These roles are fixed term to 31/03/2029 therefore we are able to offer posts as secondments opportunities if requested and approved. If you require further information or guidance on the Devon County Council Secondment policy this can be found here: Secondments - Inside Devon (Staff transfers (TUPE), joint working arrangements and secondments) - tasks and guides. Alternatively please speak to your line-manager as required.
We have opportunities across our 3 localities (South and West, North and Mid, Exeter and East). Please tell us your first and second preferred locality when submitting your application. We will aim to appoint successful candidates to their preferred locality wherever possible, balancing this with the needs of the service and local workforce requirements.
Together, we're building stronger families, stronger communities and brighter futures across Devon. So, join us in shaping Devon's Best Start Family Hubs, helping every child get the best start in life and every family access the right support at the right time."
Interviews will be held week beginning 21st September 2026.
