Full job description

We are seeking a new member of the team to provide an efficient, professional and patient-focused administrative service to support the smooth running of the GP Practice. The post holder will work flexibly across general administration, reception and prescription administration, providing a comprehensive non-clinical service to patients and the Practice team.

Main duties of the job

  • Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with Practice procedures.
  • Check and prepare prescription requests for clinician authorisation.
  • Deal with routine prescription queries and liaise with pharmacies where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate prescription records and monitor outstanding requests.
  • Escalate medication queries or concerns requiring clinical judgement to an appropriate clinician.

Administration

  • Provide general administrative support to the Practice and clinical team.
  • Process correspondence, documents, scanning and electronic records.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and update demographic information.
  • Undertake data entry, searches, audits and other administrative tasks.
  • Assist with patient registrations and other Practice processes.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing post and electronic communications.
  • Provide administrative cover and support colleagues as required.

Reception

  • Deal with patient enquiries face-to-face, by telephone and electronically.
  • Book, cancel and rearrange appointments in accordance with Practice procedures.
  • Register patients and maintain accurate patient information.
  • Signpost patients to appropriate services within Practice guidelines.
  • Deal professionally with challenging or sensitive situations.
  • Recognise and escalate urgent or clinical matters appropriately

The duties outlined above are not exhaustive and may be amended in line with the changing needs of the Practice.

Our clinical team includes four GP Partners, 2 salaried GPs, Clinical Pharmacist & strong nursing team. Management and administration team includes Practice manager, Assistant practice manager, 2 administration staff, 1 medical secretary and 6 care navigators.

Pay: £13.03 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
