Full job description

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Legal Secretary / Paralegal to join our team. This is a varied and fast-paced role within a busy office environment, where the successful candidate will support multiple departments as required and handle time-sensitive tasks with professionalism and accuracy. Previous experience working within a Family and/or Litigation Department in a busy legal office environment would be highly desirable.

This role would suit someone who is highly organised, adaptable, and capable of working both independently and as part of a close-knit team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing administrative and legal support to solicitors across multiple departments (e.g. criminal, family law, litigation, etc.)
  • Preparing, formatting, and proofreading legal documents and correspondence
  • Audio typing and copy typing (if required)
  • Managing diaries, scheduling appointments, and coordinating meetings
  • Handling incoming calls and client enquiries in a professional manner
  • Opening and closing client files in accordance with office procedures
  • Managing confidential information in line with GDPR requirements
  • Filing, scanning, and maintaining accurate records (both physical and digital)
  • Assisting with court bundles and time-sensitive submissions
  • Liaising with clients, courts, counsel, and third parties

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience in a legal secretary or paralegal role preferred
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Ability to work across multiple departments when required
  • Professional, approachable, and team-oriented attitude
