Carpenter / Kitchen Fitter – Multi-Trade Property Maintenance

£230–£280 per day | Self-Employed | Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:00 | South East London, Greater London & Kent

We are looking for an experienced Carpenter / Kitchen Fitter to join our busy and well-established property maintenance and improvement business.

This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who is confident working independently and takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship.

Our ideal candidate will be a skilled carpenter with strong kitchen-fitting experience, who is also comfortable carrying out a range of general property maintenance and repair work.

You will work across residential properties carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, repairs, installations and small refurbishment projects. No two days are the same, and you’ll be trusted to represent our company professionally while delivering an excellent service to our customers.

The type of work you’ll be carrying out

The role will primarily involve:

• Kitchen fitting and installation
• Carpentry and joinery
• Hanging and adjusting internal and external doors
• Fitting door frames, architraves, skirting and other joinery
• Staircase installation and repairs
• Fitting kitchens, units, worktops and associated joinery
• General carpentry repairs and alterations
• General property maintenance and repairs
• Painting, decorating and making good
• Basic plumbing repairs and installations
• Minor tiling and silicone replacement
• Fencing repairs and general external maintenance
• Changing locks, handles and other ironmongery
• Small repair and refurbishment projects

There may also be occasions where you are required to undertake general maintenance tasks outside your core trade, so a practical, can-do attitude and good all-round maintenance skills are important.

Experience installing bathrooms would be a definite bonus, particularly someone comfortable with fitting bathroom furniture, sanitaryware, tiling and associated finishing work.

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for someone who is first and foremost a good carpenter and experienced kitchen fitter, with the ability to turn their hand to other maintenance work when required.

Essential

• At least 4 years’ experience in carpentry, kitchen fitting, property maintenance or a similar multi-trade role
• Strong practical experience in carpentry and joinery
• Proven experience fitting kitchens
• Confident hanging and fitting doors
• Experience with joinery, fixtures, fittings and general property repairs
• Good all-round practical ability and willingness to undertake general maintenance work
• Able to work independently and manage your own workload
• Reliable, punctual and professional
• Excellent attention to detail and pride in your workmanship
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Full driving licence
• Own everyday tools
• Basic IT skills and confidence using mobile apps
• Willingness to undergo a DBS check and provide references

Your responsibilities:

As well as completing the work itself, you’ll be expected to:

• Complete jobs to a consistently high standard
• Work safely and in accordance with Health & Safety requirements
• Keep tools, equipment and vehicles clean and organised
• Report any issues or additional work requirements promptly
• Keep the wider team updated on job progress
• Use our job management system, Tradify, to accept jobs, record time and materials and mark work as complete
• Upload photographs and/or videos of completed work when required
• Provide scheduling and progress updates
• Work efficiently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship
• Represent the company professionally when working in customers’ homes

Practical assessment & checks:

As part of our recruitment process, we may ask candidates to complete a short practical assessment to demonstrate their carpentry, kitchen-fitting and general problem-solving skills.

You’ll also be asked to provide:

• Examples or photographs of previous work / a portfolio where available
• Two work references
• Right-to-work documentation
• Driving licence details

A DBS check may be required for certain work involving vulnerable tenants or schools.

Pay, hours & location

Pay: £230–£280 per day, self-employed

Payment: Invoices paid fortnightly

Hours: Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:00

Location: Working across South East London, Greater London and Kent

You must be able to reliably commute to the areas we cover or be willing to relocate before starting.
