Salary: This is a full time role with a full-time equivalent salary of up to £42,599 per annum dependent on skills and experience.

Working Hours: 33 hours per week over 4 days, working one in four Fridays, 52 weeks per year.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Computing Lecturer to join our Computing department.

The purpose of the role is to demonstrate a high quality professional practice and provide quality teaching, assessing and learning at a variety of levels with a focus on online level 2 computing qualifications, T Level Digital Production Design and Development, HTQ Level 4 and HTQ Level 5 Computing. Devise teaching plans and maintain appropriate records.

The successful applicant must have:

· Good first degree in a relevant field, such as Computing or Computer Science

· Teaching qualification or working towards

· Experience of teaching computing on FE vocational, BTEC Diplomas and digital T Levels

· Knowledge of programming language, including Object Orientated and event Driven which must include Python; relational databases (e.g Microsoft Access, MySQL, SQLite) and SQL;

· Full stack web development including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP or Python and MySQLThe ability and experience of writing lesson plans, schemes of work and assessing.

• The ability to communicate effectively with othersworking effectively in a team, with young people and adults
• The ability to be organised, efficient and flexible with good time management and the ability to meet deadlines.

The roles main duties include:

1. Teaching, using an appropriate mix of traditional, e-learning and blended learning approaches, on a range of courses within the curriculum area and across other curriculum areas.

2. Taking responsibility for specific areas of work within the curriculum area including course leadership if required.

3. Providing support and guidance to students.

4. Operating as an effective member of relevant course teams and to work closely with other areas.

5. Carrying out administrative duties associated with teaching, including maintenance of registers, schemes of work, assessments, reports, course records and course evaluations to a satisfactory standard and within established deadlines.

6. Ensuring safe working practices are observed by yourself and others (including students) for whom you are responsible.

7. Providing such returns or reports as required by the Head of Curriculum or College.

8. Assisting in the recruitment of students, through attendance at the college Open Events.

9. Assisting in the marketing of the College provision through attendance at Careers Conventions, Open Days and other promotional events.

10. Assisting in the development of curriculum support materials.

11. Assisting with programmes of work experience and/or industrial and commercial liaison, including the organisation and monitoring of work experience placements.

This role requires you to engage in regulatory activity in the FE sector. The full definition of regulatory activity is set out in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 as amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012. Regulated activity includes teaching, instructing, caring for or supervising children if the person is unsupervised.
