Senior Residential Childcare Worker – Children’s Home

£34,343–£38,019 total annual package
Base salary: £29,143–£32,819, depending on experience, qualifications and pay point
Full-time, permanent | 40 hours per week | Bognor Regis ( includes sleep ins and shift work)

Parkwood Care is looking for an experienced Residential Childcare Worker who is ready to take the next step—or an established Senior Residential Childcare Worker looking to join a genuinely child-centred organisation.

You will work within our three-bed children’s home, supporting young people aged 9–17 who experience social, emotional and mental health challenges. As a senior member of the team, you will lead shifts, guide and support colleagues and help create a safe, stable and nurturing home.

Pay and enhancements

Our seven-point senior pay scale provides a clear route for salary progression:

  • Base salary of £29,143–£32,819
  • Total annual package of £34,343–£38,019
  • The total package includes £5,200 in scheduled annual enhancements
  • Starting pay point will reflect relevant experience and qualifications
  • Annual pay reviews and clear opportunities for progression

About the role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading shifts and ensuring the home operates safely and effectively
  • Providing consistent, relationship-based care to young people
  • Supporting, guiding and acting as a positive role model for Residential Support Workers
  • Contributing to care plans, risk assessments and placement planning
  • Safeguarding young people and responding appropriately to concerns
  • Supporting young people with routines, education, activities and independence
  • Maintaining clear, accurate and professional records
  • Working collaboratively with families, social workers, schools and other professionals
  • Supporting the management team in maintaining high standards of care
  • Promoting a positive culture in which young people and staff feel valued

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has substantial experience supporting children in a residential care setting
  • Understands safeguarding and the responsibilities involved in working within a children’s home
  • Can confidently lead shifts and support other members of staff
  • Is calm, resilient and able to respond positively to challenging situations
  • Can build safe and appropriate relationships with young people
  • Communicates clearly and maintains accurate records
  • Is willing to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends and scheduled sleep-ins
  • Holds, or is working towards, the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or an equivalent relevant qualification
  • Can reliably commute to Bognor Regis
