About Us

Techne Engineering is a growing structural engineering consultancy delivering practical, cost-effective engineering solutions across residential, commercial and temporary works projects throughout London and the South East.

We are looking for a motivated Structural Engineer to join our team and play a key role in the delivery of a wide range of projects, from residential alterations and extensions through to more complex structural design commissions.

This role is ideal for an engineer with approximately 2-5 years of consultancy experience who is looking to take on greater responsibility and develop their technical and professional skills within a supportive environment.

The Role

The successful candidate will be involved in all stages of project delivery, including:

• Structural design and analysis of residential and small commercial projects
• Carrying out site inspections and structural surveys
• Preparing structural calculations and technical reports
• Designing temporary works solutions where required
• Producing and modifying structural drawings for construction and building control purposes
• Liaising with clients, architects, contractors and other consultants
• Managing workloads effectively and delivering projects on time

Essential Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Minimum 2-3 years' experience working within a structural engineering consultancy
• Experience designing residential structures using steel, timber, masonry and concrete
• Good understanding of structural engineering principles and construction methods
• Experience carrying out site visits and inspections

Technical Skills

• Competent user of TEDDS
• Experience using Tekla Structural Designer (TSD)
• Basic AutoCAD drawing skills
• Ability to prepare structural calculations independently
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook

Personal Skills

• Excellent written and spoken English
• Strong attention to detail
• Good problem-solving ability
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
• Willingness to learn and develop professionally
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Desirable Skills

• Experience with temporary works design
• Full UK driving licence
• Experience working on medium to complex residential projects
• Progress towards professional qualification (IStructE or ICE)
