About Cherrytree

Cherrytree is a homeless project for young people aged 16-21 in Sheffield operating over two sites; one located in Totley for 20 people and an 8 bed house near the city centre.

Referrals are taken via Sheffield City Council Pathways route.

We aim to provide a safe, fun and nurturing environment which is flexible to the young person’s needs.

Residents can stay for up to 12 months, in which time we offer them the opportunity to master or develop skills such as cooking, budgeting or DIY. We take a personalised, flexible approach and provide tailor-made advice and support, depending on an individual’s needs. Our aim is to help young people get the support they need to move towards independent living, so that they are ready to move on and manage their own tenancy.

During their stay residents are offered the chance to take part in activities and life enhancing trips.

As part of the supportive environment we offer all residents an in-house counselling and mediation service.

We are working towards Cherrytree being a Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) and staff are trained in Trauma Informed Care.

Main Objectives

To work as part of a team creating a supportive and safe environment for young people living on the project and helping to equip them with the skills, competencies and mind-set they need to live independently or with further support.

Key Responsibilities

Day to day running of the project

  • To support keyworkers with the day to day running of the project.
  • To update case notes, complete incident reports, logs and emails where applicable.
  • Support and advise service users, working closely with keyworkers and making referrals to other organisations where appropriate.
  • To refer to Cherrytree’s counselling service.

Group Work

  • To help organise and facilitate group activities, both within the project or off site, such as cooking, shopping, craft, sport or activities lead by the young people.
  • Consulting with the young people on the project, you will be expected to take the lead in planning events.
  • Researching and planning activities for the future.
  • Working within a variable budget and negotiating prices.
  • Sourcing free activities.
  • It is essential to have a driving licence to be able to drive the company vehicle due to the location.

General

  • To adhere to Cherrytree’s policies and procedures.
  • To use Cherrytree’s IT systems including Outlook and Microsoft Office.

Keep accurate records and case notes of the residents’ day to day activity.

  • Adhere to Cherrytree’s Health and Safety policy, being mindful of your own safety and that of colleagues and service users at all times.
  • To be flexible.
  • Participate in regular supervision and team meetings.
  • To ensure that all safeguarding issues are reported appropriately and in line with Cherrytree’s policies and procedures within Safeguarding protocols.
  • To attend training relevant to the post.
  • Undertake a DBS check.
  • Take responsibility for your own personal development in the job.
  • Cherrytree works within a Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE). Applicants will be expected to work within a PIE framework.
