The role

As a Photographer, you’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality photographic and video content that supports military training and key events. Working within a specialist media team, you’ll capture impactful moments ranging from recruit training milestones to senior personnel engagements.

This is an exciting opportunity to combine creative expertise with purpose, supporting essential defence operations while developing your technical skills in a highly varied environment.

Day-to-day, you will be:
Capturing high-quality photographs and video content across training, events, and official engagements
Supporting recruit training activities, including group photography and graduation events
Collaborating with internal stakeholders to deliver visual media aligned to operational requirements
Managing photographic tasks, workflows, and priorities within the department
Maintaining photographic standards, equipment, and performance data in line with team objectives.

This role is full time, based on site at RAF Halton, working 39 hours per week (Monday to Thursday 08:00–17:00, Friday 09:00–16:00). Occasional travel to training locations including Bramley and Crickhowell will be expected.

Essential experience of the Photographer:
Demonstrating strong technical knowledge of photography principles and equipment
Applying video capture and editing skills using relevant software
Working effectively in structured or regulated environments
Showing an understanding of working within a military or similar environment
Managing multiple tasks and delivering to deadlines.

Qualifications for the Photographer:
HND or equivalent in Photography, Media, or a related discipline
Full, valid UK driving licence.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
