Full job description

Commissioning Engineer

At VA Technology, we work in close partnership with our customers to solve complex engineering challenges, applying the ingenuity of our people and advanced control techniques. Our Commissioning Engineer roles They bridge the gap between project completion and operational handover, verifying functionality, safety, and efficiency.

What you'll be doing:

  • PLC Programming – writing & developing code: Allan Bradley Rockwell and PLC Siemens S7/TIA Portal
  • Development of structured ladder logic, statement list, function blocks
  • Set-up of system communications: EtherNet, Modbus and Profibus
  • Set-up of drives: AC/DC, and inverters
  • Knowledge of PID controllers for control of flow, level, pressure, temperature and humidity
  • Perform testing & validation of hardware/software systems
  • On site commissioning of new systems both UK and worldwide
  • Conduct customer training
  • Development of Robot and PLC software
  • Remote customer support - fault finding and diagnostics

What you'll need:

  • Significant experience in PLC programming – Allen Bradley as a minimum
  • PLC / SCADA system design & development
  • Systems, Software & Hardware development experience
  • Knowledge of Ignition systems desirable
  • B.Eng / M.Eng Electrical, Electronics or Mechatronic degree qualification (or equivalent) is preferred.
  • BTEC with significant controls experience will be considered

The role will be based out of our Telford manufacturing plants but there will be both UK and International travel involved, so the ability to travel along with a driving licence and passport is essential.
