Job Summary

We are currently looking for an experienced BMS Commissioning Engineer to work across the Wales region.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of Building Management System projects, ensuring all technical and commissioning activities are delivered on time, within scope, and to a high standard.

You will act as a key point of contact for clients, oversee system configuration and commissioning, and ensure successful project delivery through to handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end BMS project lifecycle, ensuring technical and commissioning works are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Develop, maintain, and update project schedules, tracking actual progress against planned milestones.
  • Produce, manage, and submit project documentation, ensuring compliance and client approval.
  • Act as the main client interface, managing expectations, resolving issues, and maintaining strong working relationships.
  • Coordinate with panel manufacturers, electrical installers, engineering teams, and other site stakeholders.
  • Configure and/or oversee BMS software strategies to meet operational and performance requirements.
  • Lead or support commissioning activities, ensuring systems are fully functional and meet the design intent.
  • Conduct system demonstrations, organise handover documentation, and support successful project completion.

Experience Required

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a BMS Commissioning Engineer.
  • Proven delivery of at least 5 commissioning projects, including major or complex projects.
  • Strong hands-on commissioning and project delivery experience.
  • Experience working with live electrical and control systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage site-based responsibilities.

Technical Skills Required

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of:

  • HVAC and BMS fundamentals.
  • BMS commissioning standards across the UK and Ireland.
  • BMS software such as Trend, Schneider, Tridium, Johnson Controls Metasys, or similar.
  • Design and technical documentation.
  • Networking protocols and IT infrastructure.
  • Control systems, system integration, and mechanical principles.

Certifications / Tickets

  • ECS / CSCS Card or equivalent required.
  • SMSTS / SSSTS preferred.
  • SIS Modbus Certification preferred.

Additional Requirements

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to lead commissioning activities and coordinate site teams.
  • Confident dealing with clients, contractors, and multiple project stakeholders.
  • Able to deliver under project constraints and changing site requirements.
  • Must be willing to work across Wales.
  • Extended hours and weekend work may be required depending on project needs.

Pay & Hours

  • £38.00 per hour.
  • Expected hours: Minimum 45 hours per week.
  • Standard working hours: 8:00am – 5:00pm.
  • 9-hour days.
  • Additional hours and weekend work may be available or required.
