Full job description

Casual position - Project Based

RBO Schools Sing brings world class opera and singing into the classroom while building teachers’ and pupils’ vocal, musical and storytelling skills with award winning resources, Teacher CPD and Live Lessons.

Our artists lead CPD to teachers across the country, supporting the development of their classroom singing practice, approaches to staging songs and performing with conviction, and delivering the programme pedagogy and resources.

RBO Schools Sing works in partnership with national and regional organisations to engage schools across the UK. We are looking to expand our artist pool of Music and Singing practitioners.

We’d love to hear from you if you can demonstrate the following:

Substantial experience in leading singing or opera with children and young people of mixed abilities.

A strong understanding of the music education landscape in schools and the role the arts play in delivering a broad and balanced curriculum.

Experience in training others in your specialism (this need not be teacher training but could include similar experience gained in another field).

A passion for musical storytelling and its potential within a wider learning context.

Excellent workshop leadership and verbal communication skills.

The ability to work within a team to reflect on artistic practice and continue to develop and refine the programme

The role will commence in August 2026 at the start of the new academic year. This is a project-based opportunity with a combination in person delivery and some weekend work. Travel to Covent Garden, and other locations will be necessary.

The practitioners will be paid an agreed fee of £49 p/h for session delivery and £33 p/h for session planning on a PAYE basis through payroll.

Royal Ballet & Opera is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment in which everyone can thrive. We particularly welcome applications from those who are from a global majority background and/or those who are disabled, as they are under-represented within our organisation. As a Disability Confident Employer, we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the essential minimum criteria for our vacancies.

A full job description is available here.

To apply, please submit a CV and a cover letter that details how you can respond to the 6 criteria we outline above to: schools@roh.org.uk
