Full job description

A sixth form/college, located in Birmingham , are looking for a graduate to support students as Graduate Academic Mentor. The role is to starting ASAP for the 2026 for the new academic year.

The sixth form are happy to consider graduates from any background or relevant degree but ideally require someone that has a passion for academics and looking to support students within their A-Level and BTEC subjects, as well as talking about University.

The recruited graduate will be joining a very supportive faculty who will ensure the necessary resources, help and guidance are provided for their own personal progress and development.

The opportunity:

  • Sixth Form in Birmingham, West Midlands
  • Rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted
  • Full-time role – Monday – Friday
  • £500- £530 per week - term time only
  • Chance to gain invaluable classroom experience before teacher training

The ideal graduate needs to:

  • Hold a degree with a 2:1 or above
  • Be able to inspire and motivate students to reach their full potential
  • Be flexible and self-motivated
  • Be able to demonstrate good teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Have the ability to build strong working relationships with a wide range of individual students
  • Be able to deliver well-structured support sessions to individuals and groups of students
  • Support their open learning centre within the sixth form, keeping students quiet and supporting them with their work
  • Monitoring attendance in the OLC for students who are required to go their in some study periods

The Graduate Academic Coach will be a positive role model and will coach and motivate students. The headteacher is looking for someone with the ability to form positive relationships with the students and help build confidence and encourage varied extra-curricular activities to help students develop as individuals.
