Job Summary

Millview Medical Centre is a friendly two site General Practice located in the rural village of Heckington as well as the growing market town of Sleaford. The surgery, with over 12,500 patients, has an excellent reputation within the local community.

We are now seeking an experienced Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care within a busy primary care setting.

Main Duties include

  • Performing venepuncture for patients
  • Preparing and labelling blood samples accurately
  • Ensuring samples are processed and stored correctly
  • Maintaining accurate patient records using clinical systems (SystmOne)
  • Providing a professional, caring, and compassionate service to patients
  • Working collaboratively with GPs, nurses, and the wider practice team
  • Adhering to infection prevention and control procedures at all times

Responsibilities

  • Collect blood samples from patients using venipuncture techniques with precision and care
  • Verify patient identity and ensure proper labelling of specimens
  • Maintain a clean and sterile working environment in accordance with health and safety regulations
  • Provide excellent communication and reassurance to patients during procedures
  • Record patient information accurately using IT systems
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to sample processing and documentation
  • Educate patients about the blood collection process when necessary

Qualifications

  • Proven communication skills with the ability to explain procedures clearly in English
  • Basic IT literacy for data entry and record keeping
  • Previous experience in phlebotomy
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Compassionate approach towards patients, ensuring their comfort during procedures
  • Relevant certification or qualification in phlebotomy

This a part time role which may involve working at both Heckington and Sleaford. The ideal candidate will be flexible and willing to cover holidays and sickness when the need arises.

Pay: From £12.71 per hour
