Full job description

Established in 1994 Swish is a truly independent, authentically local, growing Edinburgh business, specialising in clothing, accessories and lifestyle products. We have three SWISH boutiques and a children's store, SQUISH, all located in the historic city of Edinburgh, as well as our very own garment printing studio and workshop.

We are looking for an experienced and committed individual to join our small team of customer service assistants until the end of August. For the right candidate, who wishes to go further and shows exceptional customer service this could become a permanent position. Retail experience required. What we are really looking for is a positive can-do attitude and an affinity for customer service. This isn’t big retail - we all play a part in keeping the business running, from day-to-day customer service to visual merchandising and ecommerce, the role is diverse and challenging.

Part time staff are expected to show a high level of customer service as well as an enthusiasm for, and knowledge of the brands that we stock. Previous experience in a retail environment would be advantageous in this role, as would a knowledge of Swish and who we are.

To succeed you’ll need:

- A love for interacting and engaging with the public in order to create an environment where our customers feel welcomed, valued and enjoy their shopping experience.

- Flexibility. We are open 10am-6pm 7 days a week as standard, so we are looking for people who can be flexible across these retail hours. During July and August we are open from 9am till 8pm, evening shifts and early shifts are a possibility for all staff.

- Have a desire to learn all about the products and brands we sell including our own. Product knowledge is fundamental to providing the best service you can to our clients.

- Be a team player. Being part of a small team, you’ll get the enjoyment of knowing that your hard work plays a vital part in keeping the business prospering, helping to create and maintain a happy workplace for us all.

- Self-motivation. We all play our part in keeping the stores moving so being able to prioritise your workload whilst having the discipline to keep on top of daily tasks is essential.

- Strong multitasking skills are essential, with the ability to ensure customers still receive the same exceptional customer service during busy periods, while also completing tasks and maintaining a positive and professional demeanour.

The role is part-time and for a fixed term (24-30hrs per week over 4 or 5 shifts, Monday - Sunday) and an hourly rate of up to £12.90 (depending on age) with additional bonuses for company performance (after completing a probationary period)

You can apply online via the Indeed website. PLEASE NOTE THAT CANDIDATES WHO DO NOT ANSWER THE SCREENING QUESTIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR INTERVIEW and part of the interview process includes a short trial shift in one of our stores.

We look forward to hearing from you if you think you have what it takes to become part of our team!

Check out our website, swishedinburgh.com for more about us and our products, or pay us a visit at our Swish and Squish stores in Victoria Street or Cockburn Street to get a feel for who we are.
