Work Location: On Site (Falkirk & Alloa)
We are excited to announce that, due to continued growth, Step Up is now recruiting Full-Time, Part-Time, and Sessional Support Workers in both the Falkirk and Alloa areas!
If you are passionate about supporting care-experienced young people and want to be part of a team that truly makes a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
Shifts include a mix of day and backshifts, with every second weekend off to support a healthy work-life balance. Plus, enjoy our unique rota system — 3 days off one week and 2 days off the next — giving you time to recharge and focus on what matters most.
We offer a competitive salary of £24,588.20 to £26,171.60 per year (£13.51–£14.38 hourly rate), based on a 35-hour FTE, dependent on skills and experience. This role also benefits from incremental annual salary progression.
Benefits package:
· Incremental salary progression – annual pay increases based on service and performance.
· Additional on-call payment – £30 per on-call shift.
· Work-life balance – enjoy 3 days off one week and 2 days off the next.
· Festive perks – double on-call payments and time-and-a-half pay on key festive dates.
· SSSC registration fees – fully covered by us.
· PVG costs – fully covered by Step Up.
· Annualised hours rota – consistent monthly salary, no surprises.
· Referral rewards – £100 x 2 for successful colleague referrals.
· Every second weekend off – guaranteed.
· Up to 35 days’ holiday (FTE) based on length of service.
· Birthday half-day off – because you deserve it!
· Medicash Health Care Scheme – supporting your wellbeing.
· Extra staff perks – Christmas vouchers, Just Eat treats, & monthly initiatives.
· 24/7 Employee Counselling Helpline – free and confidential.
· Company cars for work use – with your own car only needed occasionally (e.g. if a company car is temporarily unavailable).
· Mileage reimbursement – 45p per mile when using your own car for work.
· Training & development – grow your skills with ongoing opportunities.
· Generous pension scheme – planning for your future.
· Credit Union access – supporting savings and ethical borrowing.
· Fully stocked staff kitchen – drinks, snacks, and ‘Filled Roll Fridays’!
The Role
As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in shaping futures by mentoring young people across key areas such as employment, education, budgeting, health, home management, and social development. You’ll be a consistent, trusted presence - supporting them to build confidence, resilience, and independence in a safe, nurturing environment.
You will provide crisis support and respond sensitively to mental health needs, using a trauma-informed, solution-focused approach to help young people navigate challenges and access the right support.
This role also offers autonomy and variety – you will manage your own shift, collaborate with professionals, and deliver responsive, person-centred support that makes a meaningful difference every day.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
· Provide practical, emotional, and social support tailored to each young person’s needs.
· Mentor individuals to build life skills and confidence.
· Take initiative in developing and delivering service supports.
· Work both in the community and in young people’s homes to enhance wellbeing and life opportunities.
· Collaborate with a passionate team committed to making a difference.
· Use a trauma-informed and solution-focused approach to help individuals overcome barriers.
· Promote independence and progression towards mainstream housing.
· Provide and participate in appropriate care planning, review and assessment whilst ensuring people are central to these processes.
· Support people to achieve their educational, training or employment options.
· Promote person supported participation in the community and that they are actively involved in the decision making of their day-to-day environment and activities.
· Support young people to access and maintain their physical and mental health needs, ensuring these are met appropriately.
What We are Looking For:
· A compassionate, proactive team player who can manage their own workload and contribute to wider service goals.
· Experience working with young people is desirable, but the right attitude and values are most important.
· Strong emotional intelligence, with the ability to build trusting relationships and respond sensitively to trauma and distress.
· Resilient and adaptable, able to remain calm and solution-focused in challenging situations.
· Confident communication and organisational skills, including accurate record-keeping and following safeguarding procedures.
Additional Requirements
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings and every other weekend (we’re happy to discuss working patterns at interview).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage with young people and professionals.
- Full manual driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
If you are passionate about making a difference and want to join a friendly, supportive team, we’d love to hear from you.
Additional Information
· Step Up adhere to 'Safer Recruitment' practices.
· Please note Step Up do not currently hold a Sponsorship License.
Licence/Certification:
- Manual driving licence and access to your own car (required). While we ask for access to a personal vehicle, the majority of your travel will be in a company car. Your own car would only be needed occasionally - for example, if a company vehicle is temporarily unavailable. So don’t worry, this isn’t something you’ll be using all the time!
Work authorisation:
- United Kingdom (required)
