Full job description

We are recruiting for Sessional employees for our campus in Airdrie and our Community services in Lanark. This is a Zero Hours Contract with working hours provided to suit the needs / requirement of the services.

As a Sessional Residential Child Care Worker, you will provide care and supervision for a house of up to 7 young people. Your primary goal is to provide a stable, nurturing environment that promotes the safety, wellbeing, and personal development of every individual.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct Care: Guide young people through daily routines and engage them in age-appropriate activities.
  • Educational Support: Provide assistance for young people within a classroom setting.
  • Positive Relationship Management: Actively intervene in crisis or potentially dangerous situations to maintain a safe environment.
  • Development: Contribute to and implement individual care plans and maintain accurate administrative records.
  • Community Engagement: Escort and transport young people to appointments, meetings, and planned outings.

Person Specification

We are looking for mature, trustworthy, and reliable individuals who can work under pressure and adapt to changing needs.

Professional & Personal Competencies:

  • A genuine interest in the rights and welfare of young people.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbally and written).
  • Ability to reflect on and modify your own practice through reflective practice
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills and the ability to deal with aggression calmly.
  • Sound knowledge of basic residential childcare routines and behaviour management.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Desired: HNC Social Care / SVQ3 (or currently working towards this) and experience working within residential childcare
  • Registration: Successful candidates must register with the SSSC within the first three months.
  • Driving: A current UK Driving License is highly desirable.
