Job Title: Digital Developer

Job Type: Contract/ Temporary

Duration: 6 months

Rate: £412 - £462 per day

Location: Exeter ( 1 -2 days per week on site)

Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled Digital Developer to build, enhance, and maintain intuitive, high-performing web applications. Working across the full software development lifecycle in a modern multi-cloud environment (Azure and AWS), you will collaborate closely with cross-functional design and product teams to turn complex internal APIs and data indexes into seamless, accessible user interfaces.

Key Responsibilities

  • User Interface Development: Build responsive, accessible, and high-quality web applications using Next.js, React, and TypeScript.
  • API & Data Integration: Design and deliver engaging front-end user experiences powered by internal APIs, Elasticsearch, and SQL-based databases.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside product managers and UI/UX designers to translate requirements into clean, user-centric interfaces.
  • Quality & Maintenance: Participate in code reviews, automated testing, and debugging, while maintaining and enhancing existing applications.
  • Delivery & Pipelines: Implement and support CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment across cloud platforms, while producing clear technical documentation.

Ideal Candidate

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Next.js), HTML5, CSS3, and Git version control.
  • Data & Search Experience: Familiarity with integrating RESTful APIs, SQL databases, and search technologies like Elasticsearch.
  • UX & Accessibility Focus: A solid grounding in user experience principles and web accessibility standards.
  • Methodology & Tools: Comfortable working in Agile delivery environments using collaboration tools like Jira and Confluence.
  • Bonus Experience: Prior exposure to PyGeoAPI or geospatial data platforms is advantageous.
