Crowder Consulting is a professional business of consulting engineers, software developers, and data analysts. As an SME we are one of a kind in the global water industry, having been at the leading edge of developing innovative consultancy, data and field services solutions for water network management for over 30 years. Our focus is the support of our UK and International water operator clients with advanced solutions and high-quality services for their network management, leakage and NRW reduction initiatives.

Our flagship Netbase System is a data rich hub that acts as a Digital Twin of our client water operators’ networks, with a suite of best practice applications providing source to tap insights for network monitoring, operation, optimisation, management and regulatory reporting. Our Netbase Digital Services Platform extends the value and insights of the Netbase data Hub, providing advanced web-based technologies and solutions supporting innovative analytics, operational, field services and leakage activities.

We are looking for an ambitious software engineer or computer science graduate to join our development team and help drive forward the roadmap for our cloud-based solutions and services. We want candidates who are enthusiastic about the latest software trends and technologies and have a willingness to learn, progress and grow within the team.

What We Do

  • Provide innovative solutions to the water industry.
  • Develop cloud, enterprise, web and mobile solutions.
  • Integrate, process, and analyse data from many customer and third-party systems.
  • Design complex data science and advanced analytics solutions.
  • Develop extensive reporting, data mining and visualisation tools.
  • Employ cloud and other cutting-edge technology to solve real industry problems.

What’s Involved?

  • Involvement in end-to-end Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Requirements analysis working closely with our in-house domain experts.
  • Designing, developing and testing software components, APIs, and applications.
  • Monitoring and supporting operational systems and implementing dev-ops best practice.
  • Researching new technologies, prototyping, and bringing innovation to our solutions.

Desirable Skills

  • Degree level education in relevant subject or equivalent experience.
  • Appreciation of Software Development practices and design (OOAD, DDD, TDD, patterns).
  • Experience of a high-level programming language (Java, Python, NodeJS, TypeScript, C#).
  • Exposure to any of the following:

o Developing desktop, web or mobile applications.

o Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP, Serverless, Containers).

o Web technologies (REST API, HTML5, JavaScript, Angular, React, etc).

o Database technologies (Oracle, MySQL, Mongo, DynamoDB, etc).

o DevOps Practices and Tools (Configuration as code, CI/CD, Docker).

What We Offer

You will receive a starting salary of £28k or higher depending upon your experience, skills and qualifications, alongside additional benefits including an employer contributory pension scheme and annual leave entitled that increases with length of service.

Employed on a permanent contract, working 37.5 hours per week within Monday to Friday, there is some flexibility available around start times between 8am and 10am and finish times between 4:30pm and 6:30pm, although must also be suited to business requirements.

Our company offices are in Birkenhead and are easily accessible in a central location with great transport links. There are hybrid working options available with a split of on-premise and home working.
