Are you an experienced Technology Lead, Technical Lead, Head of Development or Senior Software Engineer looking for an opportunity where you can genuinely shape the future of a technology platform?
Our client is an established, technology-led business with a proprietary platform supporting field-based operations, data collection, allocation management and client reporting.
They are now looking for an experienced Technology & Product Lead to take ownership of their technology estate, lead a small development team and drive the modernisation and future development of their core platform.
This is a hands-on senior technology role combining software development, architecture, technical leadership, product development and team management.
The Opportunity
The existing platform has evolved organically as the business has grown. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to assess the current technology, identify areas for improvement and develop a roadmap to create a more modern, scalable and maintainable platform.
There is also significant potential to develop the existing technology into a SaaS product for other field-based businesses, giving the successful candidate genuine influence over the future direction of the technology and the wider business.

- Take overall technical ownership of the company's technology platforms.
- Lead and develop a small IT/development team of 2-3 people.
- Review existing architecture and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and deliver a technology and platform modernisation roadmap.
- Provide hands-on technical support and development when required.
- Review code and make architectural and technical decisions.
- Manage technical debt and improve development standards and processes.
- Manage development priorities, technical roadmaps and the development backlog.
- Oversee BAU development, bug fixes, enhancements and integrations.
- Improve platform performance, reliability, security and scalability.
- Work closely with senior leadership to align technology with business objectives.
- Lead the development of data, AI and automation capabilities.
- Help shape the potential development of a commercially scalable SaaS product.

About You

You may currently be working as a:

- Technical Product Lead
- Strong full-stack development experience.
- Strong PHP and JavaScript experience, or closely transferable experience.
- Good knowledge of HTML, CSS, AJAX and JSON.
- Strong relational database experience, ideally MySQL.
- Experience developing web-based applications.
- Experience with APIs and data integrations.
- Experience working with legacy or organically developed systems.
- Strong understanding of software architecture and system design.
- Experience leading, mentoring or managing developers.
- Experience managing technical roadmaps and development priorities.
- Good understanding of security, scalability and performance.
- Ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
