Full job description
Please note that this is an apprenticeship position and therefore anyone with more than six months professional experience working in AI and Automation or who holds a degree or Master’s degree in a subject such as AI will not be eligible.
You will also need to commit to completing a Level 4 AI Automation Practitioner Apprenticeship.
About this role
We are hiring an AI and Automation Apprentice to work alongside the founder on real client engagements and our own products. You will spend time building AI-powered applications and automating client operations across the Microsoft Azure & M365 stacks. Modern AI tooling sits at the heart of how we deliver, from Claude Code and Cursor through to Copilot Studio and Azure OpenAI.
Duties and responsibilities
The following gives an indication of the duties and responsibilities that the post may involve. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly and carry out any work that is reasonably required and is appropriate. The post holder may occasionally be required to work outside of their core hours, this time will be accrued as lieu time to be taken at a point in time as agreed with their line manager. The post holder may also be required to travel when required to carry out their role.
AI Solution Development:
-
Pair with the founder on client and in-house product builds, using Claude Code and Cursor as primary development tools.
-
Contribute to features across the development stack, including React and TypeScript front ends, .NET 9 APIs, Swift UI iOS apps, and Azure infrastructure defined in Bicep.
-
Help design, prototype and test AI solutions, including LLM integrations, retrieval-augmented
generation, agentic workflows and structured-output patterns.
-
Build well-scoped components and ship them through GitHub and Azure DevOps pipelines.
-
Support evaluation, observability and prompt iteration for live AI features.
M365 Platform Design and Transformation:
- Build Power Apps, Power Automate flows, Power Pages and Copilot Studio agents that automate manual processes.
-
Support client engagements across Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power Platform and Copilot Studio.
-
Run discovery and process-mapping sessions with client stakeholders to identify automation and AI candidates.
-
Produce Power BI dashboards and supporting data models that surface insight from operational data.
-
Help configure and govern Microsoft 365 Copilot deployments, including security, prompt design and adoption tracking.
Why join us
-
Real delivery from day one. Live client engagements and shipping products, not synthetic exercises.
-
Direct mentorship. Work alongside a founder with 20-plus years of solutions architecture experience and Microsoft MVP recognition.
-
Modern AI tooling. Claude Code, Cursor, Azure OpenAI, Copilot Studio and the wider Microsoft AI stack as core working tools.
-
Microsoft certifications. Funded support for professional certifications across Microsoft
Azure, Microsoft 365, and AI.
-
Career trajectory. A clear route into a permanent role on successful completion, with the option to progress to a Level 5 or Level 6 apprenticeship.
-
Benefits include. Pension, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, and a personal development
budget.
Skills
-
Proven interest in AI, automation and modern software delivery using the Microsoft technology stack.
-
Awareness of how AI and automation are applied in business or workplace settings.
-
Familiarity with Microsoft 365, SharePoint or Power Platform
-
Some exposure to coding, scripting or low-code platforms (any of: Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, Power Platform, Excel formulas).
-
Experience using AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot or Gemini in study or work.
-
Comfortable picking up new tools quickly and learning by doing.
-
Logical, structured approach to problem solving.
Essential Qualifications
-
7 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grades 9-4 or A-C including English and Mathematics
-
3 A Levels at grades A - C (or equivalent) in STEM subjects
Applications are encouraged from graduates looking for an apprenticeship route to an AI and Automation career.
