About the Role

The Business Development Manager (Able to Pay) is responsible for driving the growth of Heatforce's non-subsidised revenue across domestic and commercial retrofit markets. The role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and increasing sales of domestic solar, heating, battery storage, and commercial energy solutions.

Working across both B2B and B2C markets, you'll build long-term customer relationships, expand routes to market, and work closely with internal teams to maximise commercial performance and deliver an exceptional customer experience. You'll also provide direction and support to the sales function to ensure opportunities are converted effectively and revenue targets are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver ambitious revenue and growth targets across domestic solar, heating, battery storage, and commercial retrofit services.
  • Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities across domestic, commercial, and strategic partner channels.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, developers, contractors, housing providers, commercial clients, and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop new routes to market and strategic partnerships that support sustainable business growth.
  • Work closely with marketing to develop campaigns and initiatives that generate high-quality sales opportunities.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to ensure a seamless customer journey from enquiry through to installation.
  • Produce accurate sales forecasts, manage pipeline activity, and maintain CRM records to support business planning.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies to identify new commercial opportunities.
  • Support bids, tenders, and commercial proposals where required.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the telesales function, ensuring leads are effectively qualified and converted while maintaining high levels of customer service.
  • Ensure all commercial activities comply with relevant legislation, consumer protection requirements, and industry best practice.
  • Contribute to wider business objectives and support cross-functional projects where required.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in a Business Development Manager, Senior Sales, or Commercial Manager role.
  • Demonstrable success in generating new business and delivering significant revenue growth within B2B and/or B2C environments.
  • Experience within renewables, retrofit, heating, construction, energy, or low-carbon technologies is highly desirable.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify opportunities and convert them into profitable business.
  • Excellent networking and relationship-building skills with experience managing key accounts and strategic partnerships.
  • Experience developing routes to market and winning new customers.
  • Confident negotiating commercial agreements and presenting proposals to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of sales forecasting, pipeline management, and CRM systems.
  • Self-motivated, target-driven, and able to work independently while collaborating effectively across the business.
  • Previous experience supporting or mentoring sales teams would be advantageous but is not essential.
