Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and installation of solar panels on various sites, ensuring adherence to safety standards.
• Operate and handle hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently during installation processes.
• Support excavation activities using machinery such as excavators, as required for site groundwork.
• Assist with welding tasks when necessary, ensuring secure mounting of solar equipment.
• Conduct basic mechanical tasks, including assembling mounting structures and securing panels.
• Support electrical work by handling wiring and connections under supervision, maintaining compliance with electrical safety protocols.
• Maintain a clean and organised work environment to promote safety and efficiency on-site.
• Collaborate with team members to complete projects within designated timeframes.

About MJ Renewables

MJ Renewables is a renewable energy company specialising in the installation of Solar PV systems, inverters and battery storage solutions for domestic and commercial properties.

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a reliable, hardworking and motivated Solar PV Labourer to join our installation team, working alongside our experienced Solar PV Roofer.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work, is comfortable working outdoors and is keen to develop their skills within the renewable energy industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Solar PV Roofer with the installation of solar panels on domestic and commercial properties.
• Support the preparation and setting out of solar panels, mounting rails, brackets and associated equipment.
• Safely lift, carry and position solar panels, tools and materials as instructed.
• Assist with loading and unloading installation materials and equipment from company vehicles.
• Prepare installation areas and ensure all necessary tools and materials are readily available.
• Assist with the installation of mounting systems and other non-electrical components under supervision.
• Work safely at heights, including on scaffolding and roofs, where appropriately trained and authorised.
• Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment throughout the installation.
• Follow all company health and safety procedures, including working-at-height requirements.
• Assist the installation team with general labouring duties as required.
• Ensure a professional and courteous approach when working at customers' properties.

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous experience in roofing, construction, labouring or solar panel installation would be advantageous.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual handling duties safely.
• Confident working at heights, with appropriate training and safety measures.
• Good practical skills and the ability to use basic hand tools.
• Reliable, punctual and hardworking, with a positive attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with customers.
• Strong awareness of health and safety on site.

Desirable Qualifications

• Previous Solar PV installation experience.
• CSCS Card.
• Working at Height training.
• Manual Handling training.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Previous roofing or construction site experience.

Previous solar installation experience is not essential, as guidance and on-the-job training can be provided to the right candidate.
