Full job description

Role Overview

This role will require frequent regional travel. There will be occasional travel across the UK.

The Electrical Project Manager with ICP experience will oversee the delivery and management of utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) solar projects, with a strong focus on electrical infrastructure, including the connection to the distribution network. This role is essential for managing the electrical aspects of the project, from the design and procurement of electrical systems to the commissioning and connection to the grid under ICP regulations. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of ICP processes and the technical, regulatory, and safety requirements associated with connecting energy systems to the grid.

What will you be doing?

  • Project Management: Lead and manage electrical infrastructure projects, focusing on the integration of photovoltaic (PV) solar systems to the electrical grid as an ICP
  • ICP Process Management: Oversee all aspects of the ICP process, including submission of connection applications, design and procurement of electrical connections, and liaising with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) for the grid connection
  • Team Leadership: Manage the electrical project team, including engineers, contractors, and technicians, to ensure the efficient and timely delivery of electrical systems on utility-scale solar projects.
  • Connection Coordination: Coordinate with DNOs, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth and timely grid connections, ensuring compliance with local electrical regulations and project timelines.
  • RFI and Change Management: Oversee the Request for Information (RFI) process and manage electrical design changes, ensuring prompt resolution to avoid project delays.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain quality control measures, ensuring that all electrical works are completed to the highest standards and are fully compliant with both internal and external quality assurance processes.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Ensure all electrical project documentation, including ICP connection plans, designs, and correspondence with DNOs, is properly maintained and shared with stakeholders.

What are we looking for?

  • Experience: At least 6-8 years of experience in project management, with significant exposure to electrical infrastructure, particularly in ICP roles related to energy projects, including grid connections for renewable energy systems such as PV solar.
  • ICP Knowledge: Extensive experience with ICP processes, including understanding the technical, regulatory, and operational requirements for grid connections, liaising with DNOs, and managing ICP-related documentation and permits
  • Electrical Expertise: Strong technical knowledge in electrical design, installation, and commissioning, with experience in grid connections for renewable energy projects.
  • Project Financial Management: Demonstrated experience managing project budgets and cost controls, with the ability to track and forecast costs associated with electrical systems and grid connections.
  • Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel regularly to project sites to oversee electrical works and ICP connection activities.
  • Contract Management: Experience with contract management, including the review and negotiation of EPC and ICP contracts, subcontractor agreements, and purchase orders.
