About the Role

We are looking for an experienced, commercially minded and technically capable Head of Asset Management to lead and develop our renewable energy asset management and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) division.

This is an exciting senior leadership opportunity for someone with a strong background in commercial solar PV who wants to take ownership of a growing portfolio and help develop a successful, profitable asset management operation.

You will be responsible for ensuring commercial solar PV and renewable energy systems operate safely, efficiently and effectively throughout their lifetime.

The role combines technical asset management, preventative maintenance, compliance, client relationship management and commercial development.

We are not simply looking for someone to manage maintenance schedules. We want someone who can build, lead and grow an asset management department.

Key Responsibilities

Asset Management & System Performance

  • Take overall responsibility for the performance and management of commercial solar PV and renewable energy assets.
  • Monitor system generation, availability and performance.
  • Identify faults, underperformance and opportunities for optimisation.
  • Investigate performance issues and coordinate appropriate solutions.
  • Produce clear performance reports and technical recommendations for clients.
  • Ensure assets are operating safely, efficiently and in line with expectations.

Maintenance & Compliance

  • Develop and manage planned preventative maintenance programmes.
  • Coordinate inspections, servicing, testing and remedial works.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, manufacturer requirements, warranties and insurer obligations.
  • Manage engineers, subcontractors and specialist service providers.
  • Maintain accurate asset registers, inspection reports, maintenance records and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure faults and remedial works are managed efficiently through to resolution.

Client Relationship Management

  • Act as a key point of contact for clients regarding the performance and condition of their renewable energy assets.
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with commercial and industrial clients.
  • Provide professional technical advice, reporting and maintenance recommendations.
  • Manage the onboarding of existing renewable energy systems installed by third parties.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system performance, reliability and long-term value.

Department Development & Leadership

  • Build and develop a structured, scalable asset management and O&M operation.
  • Introduce effective systems, processes, reporting standards and service procedures.
  • Establish departmental KPIs covering asset performance, maintenance completion, fault resolution and customer service.
  • Develop and manage a reliable network of engineers and specialist contractors.
  • Support future recruitment and team development as the asset portfolio grows.
  • Work closely with technical and commercial teams to improve operational delivery.

Commercial Growth

  • Develop and grow the asset management and O&M service offering.
  • Identify opportunities for new maintenance contracts and recurring revenue.
  • Develop commercially attractive service packages for existing and new clients.
  • Identify opportunities for system upgrades, inverter replacements, battery integration, repowering and other remedial works.
  • Support commercial proposals and long-term client agreements.
  • Help establish asset management as an important and profitable part of the business.

Experience & Skills Required

Essential

  • Strong technical understanding of commercial solar PV systems.
  • Experience within renewable energy, solar PV Operations & Maintenance, electrical engineering or technical asset management.
  • Knowledge of system performance monitoring, planned maintenance, fault management and compliance.
  • Experience coordinating engineers, contractors or specialist service providers.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to identify opportunities for business growth.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise workloads and take ownership of outcomes.

Desirable

  • Previous experience managing a portfolio of commercial solar PV assets.
  • Experience leading or developing an O&M or technical services department.
  • Knowledge of solar monitoring platforms and asset management software.
  • Experience developing maintenance contracts or recurring-revenue service offerings.
  • Understanding of battery energy storage systems and renewable energy technologies.

About You

We are looking for an ambitious, proactive and commercially aware individual who is motivated by the opportunity to build and lead a successful department.

You will be:

  • Technically confident – able to understand, investigate and resolve operational issues.
  • Commercially minded – able to recognise opportunities to improve performance and generate additional revenue.
  • Highly organised – comfortable managing multiple clients, assets, contractors and priorities.
  • A strong communicator – able to explain technical matters clearly and professionally.
  • A natural problem solver – someone who takes responsibility and drives issues through to resolution.
  • A leader – confident developing processes, managing relationships and building a team.
  • Ambitious – motivated by the opportunity to create and grow a high-performing asset management division.

Why Join Us?

This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a senior position within the growing renewable energy sector.

You will have genuine responsibility and autonomy to shape the asset management function, improve operational performance and develop a commercially successful O&M division.

We are looking for someone who wants to make a real impact and play a key role in the long-term success of the business.
