Technical Manager HVAC Renewables - Northern area - HVAC Products & Services - Domestic and Commercial - Permanent - circa £45k DOE + training & development plan - 25 days + BH’s - Mon to Fri 09.00 - 17.00 - Company events and charitable support programme - Parking onsite - forward thinking and growing financial advice practice

A leading provider of high quality energy efficient solutions for homes and businesses who are passionate about clean and sustainable energy products are looking for a Technical Manager to join them in the Northern region.

The role:

The Technical Manager is a key position and member of our renewables team, you will be responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of heat pump installations and related products.

You will be visiting projects pre-installation to assess the site, you will provide ongoing technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle, reviewing and commissioning reports to ensure compliance with MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) standards and client expectations.

The successful candidate should have a strong technical background in heat pumps and renewable energy products/systems, you will be an excellent communicator and be happy interfacing with varying stakeholders, a thorough understanding of industry standards and best practices is also advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

⦁ Pre-Installation Site Visits:

⦁ Conduct on-site reviews pre installation, assess siting and placement of heat pumps.

⦁ Identify potential technical challenges, give recommendations for optimal installation.

⦁ Produce reports and site assessments, recommendations and installation guides.

⦁ Provide expert technical guidance to project teams through the installation process.

⦁ Address technical queries from installers, project managers, and clients.

⦁ Ensure that installations meet technical specifications and compliance (MCS).

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

⦁ Review commissioning reports to ensure installations comply with MCS standards.

⦁ Identify any deviations from standards and work, address and rectify issues.

⦁ Ensure all documentation is completed and filed to company and regulatory requirements.

⦁ Maintain clear and effective communication with all project stakeholders.

⦁ Participate in project meetings to provide technical insights and updates.

Qualifications and Skills:

⦁ Prior work within the renewables or HVAC industry, preferably with a focus on heat pumps.

⦁ Comprehensive understanding of MCS standards and other relevant regulations.

⦁ Strong technical knowledge of heat pump systems, installations and commissioning.

⦁ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

⦁ Ability to explain technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

⦁ Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions on site.

⦁ Relevant technical qualifications in renewable energy, HVAC or related fields.

⦁ Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

⦁ Experience in project management or site supervision within the renewables sector.

⦁ Familiarity with other renewable energy technologies (e.g., solar PV, battery storage)

If you have proven experience in a technical role within the renewables or HVAC industry, preferably with a focus on heat pumps. A comprehensive understanding of MCS standards and other relevant industry regulations and a strong technical knowledge of heat pump systems, installation processes, and commissioning, this could be the role for you.
