Working Hours: Part time, 13.73 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. Tuesday Afternoon, Wednesday, and Thursday all day.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Plumbing Lecturer/Assessor to join our Construction department. This is an opportunity to teach part-time in further education, share your skills and train up the next generation of workers in your field.

The College have successfully secured funding from the Greater Lincolnshire LEP (Local Enterprise Partnership) and have created a multi-million-pound centre of excellence for sustainability and renewable energies. The project transformed our provision with industry-standard workshops, equipment, and digital learning spaces. The Energy Centre allows us to expand our provision and offer new Engineering and Construction courses in electrical installation, plumbing, gas fitting and renewable energies including solar, wind, and air source heating. Together with our Institute of Technology, the Energy Centre marks a flagship investment by Grantham College in training for the jobs of the future.

The purpose of the role is to be responsible for teaching and assessing various Renewable Energy, Gas, Plumbing and Domestic Heating qualifications at Levels 1, 2 and 3 on Full time students and/or Apprentices and assisting with the development of the Construction curriculum.

The successful applicant must have:

· City and Guilds L3 Diploma or other awarding body in Plumbing and Domestic Heating or NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing and Domestic Heating.

· City and Guilds 7404 Parts 1 and 2, PGCE or Cert Ed. PTLLS, DTLLS Or a willingness to acquire.

This role requires you to engage in regulatory activity in the FE sector. The full definition of regulatory activity is set out in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 as amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012. Regulated activity includes teaching, instructing, caring for or supervising children if the person is unsupervised.

Fancy a 4-day working week*?

Grantham College ran a trial of a 4-day working week from September 2022, as a result of staff feedback and the positive impacts experienced during the trial it will be made permanent from April 2023. Staff benefit from a reduction in working hours but still receive full pay, a full-time member of staff with a permanent salaried contract for 37 hours per week reduces to an average of 33 hours per week with the same pro rata reduction for part time employees. Annual leave entitlements will reduce in line with the reduction in contracted hours, but the number of weeks of leave will remain the same. You will work your core hours Monday to Thursday with full time staff working a Friday morning on the 4th week.

Grantham College experienced positive benefits from the trial including improvement to staff wellbeing and morale. We have also seen benefits in terms of reduced staff turnover leading to greater consistency of performance for our students and apprentices. The number of staff sickness absence days has reduced alongside the energy usage for the college and therefore its carbon emissions. We have also seen improvements in key quality indicators such as student attendance and retention and we are confident this will feed through into improved achievement rates and more positive outcomes for our students.

*pro rota reduction for part time staff
