Full job description
Management Trainee
We are seeking a highly organised, motivated, and adaptable Management Trainee to gain a comprehensive understanding of our business operations. Working under the guidance of five designated managers or department heads, the successful candidate will complete a structured programme of practical experience across customer service, finance, Solar PV design support, post-installation administration, and operational coordination.
This developmental role offers structured training, coaching and progressively greater responsibility. The Management Trainee will provide effective support across multiple functions, develop an understanding of how departments work together and build the commercial, technical, and organisational skills required for future progression into a supervisory, coordination or management position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Service and Office Administration
Answer incoming telephone calls promptly and professionally, take accurate messages and direct enquiries to the appropriate colleague.
Respond to routine customer and client enquiries by telephone and email, escalating complex or sensitive matters when required.
Maintain accurate records, diaries, shared mailboxes, and customer relationship management systems.
Finance Administration
Support the processing of purchase invoices, sales invoices, receipts, expenses, and other routine financial transactions.
Review information for accuracy, organise supporting documentation and maintain finance trackers and records.
Handle financial, commercial and customer information with discretion and in accordance with company procedures.
Renewables Design Support
Assist with the preparation of Solar PV and Air Source Heat Pump layouts, schematics and supporting calculations using approved design software and company templates.
Collect and verify survey information, photographs, measurements, and technical data before designs are submitted for review and approval by an authorised person.
Maintain accurate design records and ensure effective document and version control. Post-Installation Documentation
Prepare, check, and issue complete post-installation packs, including certificates, warranties, photographs, handover information, and other required documentation.
Follow up on outstanding information and ensure completed records are stored accurately within the appropriate systems and folders.
No prior experience of industry compliance standards is required; however, an interest in quality, organisation, and attention to detail would be beneficial. The successful candidate will receive full training in industry standards and certification schemes, including MCS, PAS 2030, and quality assurance processes.
Operational Support
Support the planning and scheduling of work, ensuring timely communication between managers, office colleagues, engineers, subcontractors, and customers.
Monitor task lists and operational trackers, identify delays or missing information and assist managers in progressing actions to completion.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of administrative and operational processes.
Reporting and Working Arrangements
Work to an agreed rotation and priority plan across five designated managers or department leads.
Clarify objectives, deadlines, and expected outcomes for each assignment before commencing work.
Provide clear and timely progress updates, escalating conflicting priorities to the nominated line manager for resolution.
Participate fully in training, performance reviews, and development activities, applying feedback to improve future performance.
Qualifications and Experience
We are seeking candidates who have successfully completed A-Levels or equivalent qualifications, achieving grades of B or above. Applicants must also have achieved passes in GCSE English and Mathematics. We are looking for individuals with a strong academic background, excellent communication skills, and a positive attitude towards learning and professional development.
Competence in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, together with the willingness and ability to learn CRM, finance, and Solar PV design systems.
Previous experience in an office, administrative or customer service environment would be beneficial but is not essential, as full training will be provided.
Skills and Personal Attributes
Professional telephone manners, with clear and confident written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple and changing priorities.
A proactive, positive, and inquisitive approach, with a genuine willingness to learn from different managers and departments.
Reliable, discreet, and accountable, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Training and Career Development
The successful candidate will receive structured on-the-job training, regular performance reviews, and clearly defined development objectives. As knowledge and competence increase, the Management Trainee will assume ownership of defined tasks and small projects, with the opportunity to progress into a supervisory, coordination or management role within the business.
