Workshop Technician – Reconditioning Heads – Lancaster

Join the UK’s leading renewable energy generator of low carbon power from captured landfill and mineral methane. Infinis generates most of its electricity by capturing thousands of tonnes of methane from landfill sites and uses that resource to generate low carbon electricity.

Job outline

Our Lancaster Centre of Excellence (CoE) houses a dedicated engineering team, who are responsible for maintaining our fleet of over 400 engines to the highest standards. Engine overhauls involves stripping down, assessing, and reassembling engines using new components. All parts are checked to ensure each engine will provide a safe, reliable operation and unparalleled performance following the completed works. The primary purpose of this role is to recondition cylinder heads and key engine components on all types of assets and build sub-assemblies for engine overhauls in the field and workshop to a standard that complies with standardised work instruction produced for each task.

This is a 42-hour week role working over 4 days on a 12-hour shift basis 6am – 6pm with a 1.5 hour break. The working week rotates quarterly Mon – Thurs changing to Tues – Fri.

  • Ensure all component parts are reconditioned to the Infinis standard adhering to strict tolerances across all areas of key recon parts
  • Following on from the inspection, create a list of parts that need to be replaced based on condition and submit this to the shift supervisor for review
  • Clean and repurpose all recoverable parts ensuring all operating equipment meets legislation requirements
  • Seek guidance from the shift supervisor to understand the key milestones and schedule of work for the project
  • Provide the Supervisor and wider workshop team with both verbal and written daily, weekly and monthly updates on issues and actions
  • Ensure good communication at all levels within the Infinis business and with key stakeholders
  • Ensure all work is undertaken in a manner that maximises site environmental compliance
  • Additional ad-hoc duties may arise and you will be required to take responsibility for workshop cleanliness, safety and supplies through the course of each shift
  • Keep all HSQE documents both written and situated on SharePoint updated in accordance with both company and SGS (ISO 9001 and 14000) guidelines
  • Maintain a culture of best practice within Infinis by attending morning briefs, meetings and training courses (internal and external) as appropriate
  • Undertake internal/external training as offered by the company to further develop skill set/experience.
